Hello, my name is Jacqueline Collins, ever since I was a teenager, I have always wanted to help people. I believe, I was born a caretaker by nature and absolutely love taking care of people. In high school, I decided, I wanted to be a nurse. Nevertheless, after High School, I took a nursing assistant course for three months. Soon after completing the course, I started working as a nursing assistant in a Nursing Home. Consequently, I didn’t find working in this facility rewarding. However, I loved working with the elderly, but it didn’t challenge me enough. To reach my goals, I realize that I must, look for employment in a hospital, and pursue a Registered Nurse degree.
I graduated from Norfolk State University in 1995 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. My plan was to continue taking classes toward my BSN, but life happens. After, completing my associate degree in nursing, received a job in the hospital, …show more content…

This statement is so true, it has motivated me to continue this course. I had decided at the beginning of the last semester, that this would be my last class, but here I am thanks to this quote. Completing my bachelor's degree in Nursing has been a personal goal of mine since I graduated with my Associated degree twenty-one years ago. One of my professional goals is to eventually become a unit manager. Moreover, I decided to continue my education to earn a master's degree, to become a better leader in nursing.
Leadership is more than passion and hard work. Leadership is about learning, applying, and implementing. I do not think that I will ever be “the best leader”. But I will do my best to follow the transformational leadership style. My leadership is a continual process that I will work to develop by learning from others and from myself. I will seek to be the embodiment of best practices of leadership theory and leadership
