Many people see themselves differently. How do you see yourself? What identity do you give yourself? Maybe some people are confused to what they are or what to call themselves. Whether to call themselves African American or Hispanic or Asian or White. I see myself as a Mexican-American and would want to be called this. Yes ima Hispanic and Latina aswell but i prefer Mexican -American. One day i was going out with my friends but i didn't have a ride ther. So i had to take an uber to the place. Once i got inside the car, the uber driver started talking to me. I responded even though i hate small talk. He then said, “Where did you come from?” I was shocked to see that he just assumed that i was an immigrant. I was caught of guard and was kind of offended in a way. I responded saying that my parents are from Mexico buy i was born in Chicago. He apologized but he said that he heard an accent in my voice that's why he asked me. He then started speaking spanish rather than english so i couldn't be offended anymore. He wasn't Mexican but he was Latino. …show more content…

Being Mexican or hispanic does not mean everyone migrated here, or even less is “illegal”. Even though we're in a country where a racist man just became president, where one of his main claims were that all Mexicans are illegal and all Mexicans are rapist and criminals, it is not true. I am not a daughter of a rapist or criminal, i am a daughter to a man that loves his family very much and all he wishes for is our happiness and for us to be successful in life.
