I believe in hard work because hard work is the only way to excel in life, especially in sports, academics, and at a job. You can’t go through life assuming that people will do your work for you or that you’re not equipped to do something. You need to take charge and work hard. When I think of hard work one championship softball game comes to mind. With no time left in the game, we’re down 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th with two outs and a runner on second and I walk up to plate. I start to get nervous but I know my nerves can’t get to me. I take a deep breath in front of the batter's box and as my right foot hit the dirt in the right hand batters box all my nerves went away. When my left foot hit the dirt I got a feeling that I have never got before. As the pitcher started her pitch I began to load up my swing. I watched the ball get released by her hip, and right then I knew that this was the ball I wanted to hit. As I was rounding first I saw the left fielder picking up the ball by the fence. I saw Taylenn (runner that was on second) rounding third. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the ball going home so I kept on running to third. Halfway to third I hear a very loud “Safe”. I saw the catcher fire the ball down the chalk line to third so I slid into the bag and felt the tag. “Safe” the other umpire yelled as loud as he could. I get up and I hear a lot of screaming and clapping from all of the parents and teammates.
