Human Trafficking is a rife global glitch which occurs in almost every country of the world. It is a criminal activity which ferociously takes advantage of its victims as a result of their susceptibility due to extreme poverty, lack of social protection mechanisms, forced migration, social exclusion, disempowerment and failure of economic systems. Furthermore, it reflects a total contravention of an individual’s right to freedom in whatever form and supplemented by savagery and inhumane activities which can have harmful effects on the wellbeing of the victim. (Clark 2003; 2012 US.TIPR; UNODC 2012; Aghatise 2004; Velijanoski and Stewart 2007). This hydra headed monster of the 21st century, generates $9.5 billion a year (Morrison and Crosland 2000, US Department of State 2005) and is the third biggest origin of profit for organized infraction after trade in drugs and arms,(Orhant 2002). Social Researchers guesstimate that as many as 27 million men, women and children are preys of traffickers at any given time, US TIPR (2013:7). In the middle of year 2007 and 2010 alone, nationals of 136 countries were identified as victims of trafficking in more than 100 nations across the globe, UNODC (2012:12). As a result of world integration and economic development, trafficking in persons has become multidimensional, multifaceted and convoluted involving participants ranging from madams and pimp at local and international level deceptively offering unsuspecting young women the opportunity to travel to Europe for better jobs and life opportunities only to be trafficked and sexually exploited. Methodology
In this research, I intend to tell stories of few of the victims I have come in contact with in the form of narratives, I will also use secondary data and I plan to visit few NGOs in the Netherlands that relate with rescued Nigerian victims of sexual exploitation and interview them.

The significance of this publication is to promote awareness on the issue of sex trafficking.
Many people are victims of sex trafficking and this horror must be stopped for the sake of the innocent girls and women who are being taken advantage of. Trafficking is a form of modern slavery because people’s bodies are sold for the gain of others against their wills. The steps that must be taken to prevent sex trafficking involve raising political and social awareness, people working together and the prosecution of traffickers.

“Human trafficking coerces and persuades their victims to cross national borders in search of new jobs and better opportunities and after that they are forced into some sort of labor bondage” (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1). Even though trafficking is a problem in almost every country; poorer countries have a bigger problem with it because they are more desperate for work. Just in 2000, the U.S. enacted their first federal anti-trafficking law, called the Victims of Trafficking Protection Act (At Issue: Human Trafficking 1). In order to understand how sex trafficking affects its victims, one must first know the severity of sex trafficking and what it is. The issue of sex trafficking affects 2.5 million people at any given time (Abas et al., 2013). The form of sex slavery affects many women and children across the world. Even though both males and females are sexually trafficked and exploited, there is a deep emphasis on the sexual exploitation of women and children. This is due to gender discrimination (Miller, 2006). This is because women and children are more vulnerable and appeal to the larger populations of brothels and the so-called “clients” since the majority are men. Ecclestone (2013) stated that children as young as age three are trafficked. Sex trafficking has changed over time; “Today, the business of human sex trafficking is much more organized and violent. These women and young girls are sold to traffickers, locked up in rooms or brothels for weeks or months, drugged, terrorized, and raped repeatedly” (Walker-Rodriguez & Hill, 2011). It is found that many of the victims of sex trafficking are abducted, recruited, transported and forced into involuntary “sex work”. These sexual acts include prostitution, exotic dancing, pornography, and sexual escort services (McClain & Garrity, 2011). What happens to these sex trafficking victims is extremely traumatizing.

Human trafficking is becoming one of the biggest money making organized crimes in the world. The sex trade is one of the most profitable of all current slave trades. Human trafficking is a plague afflicting most modern societies; men, women and children are trafficked for sexual slavery and cheap labor against their wills. Often times children are taken or lured from their homes and men blackmailed into slave labor for little or nothing. Women and children are trafficked for sexual uses, mainly prostitution.
Human trafficking, or the selling and buying of people, is a well-hidden yet prominent issue within today’s society. It is both an immoral and horrific topic that needs brought to attention and dealt with. When human beings are manipulated into work, sexual servitude, or economic hardship, human trafficking is occurring. In the year of 2006, only one individual is convicted of human trafficking per 800 victims (UNGIFT). By looking at straight statistics, reasons human trafficking happens, and the toll it has on people, it is very clear that this is a major issue that is happening in our world.
Moreover, the government of Netherlands supported a program to combat sex trafficking by placing anti-trafficking public service announcements on a website regulated by seeking women in prostitution (Trafficking in persons., 2008). To sum up, there are several effective solutions that these two countries have experienced in trying to solve each problem occurring in their countries, which the Thai government can adapt and use to solve the same problem in Thailand. To prevent the exploitation of prostitution, the Thai government should introduce a stricter penalty for prostitution similar to the law referring to Saudi Arabia. Moreover, in the case of sexual trafficking, the solutions from the two countries are both suitable for Thailand. Even though, many countries around the world have been trying many different ways to solve this global problem, the exploitation of prostitution still arises and seems to be out of control for many countries.
