One warm night, he came through the bedroom window. His sudden intrusion angered me. That was the first time I saw him in this house. His tiny round eyes seemed innocent enough, but he was frightened by my stare. His skinny long legs were trembling. He turned his head, saying, "I'm completely lost." That was certainly not a good excuse for breaking into my private property. "Hey, YOU, get outta here," I said as I picked him and threw him out of the window. "Never come back!"
But I saw him a second time; he was in the kitchen with his friends. They were stealing my roommate Susie's peach from her shelf. With his triumphant face, he proclaimed, "I conquered your kitchen. Ha, ha, ha." I was furious. "Oh, shut up!" I declared. "I'm gonna terminate you guys!" Our long battle began. I took COMBAT from under the sink and sprayed it toward them. The ones there died, but it wasn't over. His brothers and sisters keep coming to the kitchen. The little ants with all their relatives are the most annoying enemies in any family's kitchen.
Initially, I used ant killer sprays to kill ants. These sprays easily clear up thousands of crawling ants at once. Nevertheless, the number of ants increased, ants invaded the bathroom next to the kitchen. I aimed thenozzle at endless lines of ants. My battle cry for the day was, "1, 2, 3, Fire!" Now, I seldom have seen ants in the kitchen. Without them, I feel much more comfortable when I use the kitchen. For me, it was a hard won peace after a long battle with those pesky ants. While it may seem in our culture that sexual activity is a growing normality for teenagers, more teenagers are actually waiting. Studies show that more teenagers are willing to make a pledge to be abstinent if they are educated about it. More teens if given the option would choose a basic sex education program, not an abstinence only program or a contraception only program. Teen pregnancy is a big deal. We have seen our numbers of teen’s pregnant drop since 1991 but it is still a high number. Our numbers of teen pregnancy at times have been greater in number than other countries. We see teen pregnancy amongst people in all races, black, white, and Hispanic. Our babies are having babies. Teens are often not careful and have unprotected sex. They think they are mature enough to have sexual relations but in the end our mature enough to care for the consequences of having sex. “Low levels of parental education and income sharply increase the likelihood that a young women will become sexually active and have an unplanned child” (Macionis, 2015). That statement of research is very powerful, but not as powerful as this one, “Compared to young women who lives with both biological parents, those who live with a mother and a stepfather or in some other family arrangements have triple the odds of having a child by age nineteen” (Macionis, 2015). There are ways to prevent teen pregnancy from educating our children about ways of prevention, statistics/research, and simply just being involved with our children.

Not only are children of teen parents more likely to be unhealthy physically but sometimes emotionally as well. A teen cannot provide the fostering environment that a baby needs to develop. Although teen pregnancy rates declined throughout the 1990s, a 3 percent jump in births to teen mothers between 2005 and 2006 raised alarm that sex education programs and campaigns to reduce teen motherhood were failing (ProQuest). Various methods of contraceptives and the righteous yet difficult choice of abstinence are among possible solutions Preventing teen pregnancy is an issue in the United States of utmost importance and society as a whole must convince teens in a more innovative , extreme way and they must push forward now.
Teen pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) have become a major issue in the United States. One reason is that many young people lack the knowledge and resources they need to protect themselves from pregnancy and/or sexually transmitted diseases. In fact, teenage mothers have stated that the education provided to them did not prepare them for the possible repercussions of unprotected sex. The result of this lack of accountability, whether in the home or at school, has aided in the rise in teen pregnancy and STDs. In order for teen pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Disease rates to decrease, schools must implement abstinence-plus education.
Today in this society many teenagers are having sex and not realizing what could happened after they have done it. Parents and teachers aren’t teaching their children proper information about sex. Teenagers believe nothing can happen and that sex isn’t a probable cause. Unfortunately, there are many risks that come along with teen pregnancy many of those include a life surrounded by poverty, medical and health issues, less schooling along with more dropout rates, and lower career ambitions. Teen pregnancy has many causes such as no access to protection, wanting to tie down a guy, Missing love or attention from parents, peer pressure mixed with "trends”, and sadly teenagers most common, lack of knowledge.
