The technological advancements made in the world are very impressive. Not only have devices such as computers and phones been invented, but they continue to get better. One of the questions currently being asked, however, is if technology has had a positive or negative impact on people's lives. Technology also provides a way to find answers to questions much faster. When a student was working on a research project before the Internet, they would have to spend days at a library trying to find sources for their project. Now, technology and the Internet has made it possible for libraries and colleges to create online databases so that students can find books, articles, videos, etc, without having to spend long hours searching at a library. Another way technology has improved people's lives is by making many videos available to stream. Teachers can now use YouTube to easily find educational videos for their classes. These videos act as a visual aide and the streaming sites make it so that the video can simply be streamed from the computer instead of finding the actual disc or tape and setting it up for a class. Along with providing people with easy access, technology also helps people save money. One of the sneakiest fees in college is the price of textbooks. However, many publishers have created an online version of their books and students can download them instead of buying them in a store. These books are less expensive because they are not printed, and this helps many college students, sometimes even high school students, save money
The topic of technology and our society has become a very controversial subject today. Many people believe that technology is an essential component of our modern world, helping us to improve communication from farther distances as well as giving us easy access to important information. Since the Industrial Revolution, technology has become an essential tool in human life. Technology impacted lives in society by offering a way to “multitask” by using two or more technological devices. Technology and internet offers the facility to do homework faster through Google, while listening to music on Pandora or YouTube. They also felt that their relationships with their family at home dropped 4% in the past year. The opinions vary, but they are needed to show how technology is affecting different people.
Instead of helping people become more productive, modern day conveniences have increased the demand of everyday life. Society’s point of view has shifted from designing products to help lives become easier, to designing time saving convenience products. Provided, people have become more productive, these increases in productivity are not on par with increases in wages. Lives have become overrun with modern conveniences, it is difficult to imagine a society without them. Instead of helping these everyday technologies have set the bar too high, and it is causing everyday life to become too stressful.
I roll around on my bed, tossing and turning. The blare from my alarm clock deafens my right ear, and I quickly throw an arm over to it and slam on the snooze button. It is 6 o'clock in the morning, and already technology has affected my life. I fall to my feet and walk towards the showers. Another form of technology is about to take over my life. Well, at least for the next ten to 20 minutes.

Every day I have to press a little button on a small remote controller so the gate at home opens by itself. It seems normal nowadays, but twelve years ago I had to step out of the car to open the gate by myself. I am now 20 years old and I have seen technology flashing through my eyes throughout the years. When I was in primary school I used to play with sand, ride bicycles or create my own games. Internet, smart phones, Facebook and Google were words that did not appeared in my vocabulary until some years ago. Even tablets were just medicines and not a computer device that looks like a small flat screen. Technology is getting modern day by day. People are always connected to something that is related to technology, such as the internet, social media, television or smart phones. It is very difficult to imagine life nowadays without technology. But does technology make life more convenient? Or was life better when it was simpler?
