A) Orwell's Animal Farm is symbolizing the structure of the Russian Revolution between the period of 1917 and 1944. Animalism is really communism. The animals in Animal Farm represent the historical characters in the Russian Revolution. Old Major and his strange dream represent Karl Marx and The Communist Manifesto of 1848. Marx inspires the Russian Revolution by representing the evil in socialism and communism. Snowball represents Leon Trotsky (Vladimir Lenin's second-in-command during the Russian Revolution), while Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin (the General Secretary of the Russian Communist Party from 1922). Boxer represents the uneducated working class of Communist Russia.

Mr. Jones loved Moses and spoiled him. However, Moses was considered as property in the collective ideas and was not permitted. Under collectivism, no one was to have possessions for one individual; this was considered evil and punishable. Although Moses played a small part, Orwell used him quite well to exploit religion because Moses would spread the tale of Sugarcandy Mountain, which existed in the afterlife. Mr. Jones represented the last emperor of Russia, Tsar Nicholas II, who indulged him and represented the individual, which again is considered bad and evil.

The animals represent the peasants who were slaughtered to be used for personal gain for the one who ruled in absolute power which was Napoleon reflecting Stalin. The animals convinced that collectivism was better than individualism and was worth fighting for. Napoleon created a labor force, which he used continually. He sold the animals on the idea that building a windmill will benefit all animals. However, whenever the windmill was completed, the windmill would continuously break and Napoleon had them rebuild it repeatedly. This kept the animals busy and preoccupied
