Have u ever wondered if race relations changed over the year? Racial relations has changed in many ways since the 1930s. It changed because in the 1930s no group of people were hit harder than the African Americans. The whites intimidated the African Americans during the 1930s. African Americans were the last people hired and the first to be fired from their jobs it was very hard to find jobs because of the Great depression. Most black people back then were viewed as different. People’s opinion about them were that they were not equal to the whites because of their color. Race relation has changed over the years because people were really at the advent back then, many people views changed, and minorities are now legally equal to white people. There is still some problems with race relation but not as much of a problem back then. Many people still think there is a long way to go until full equality is reached. Even though things have gotten better since 70 years or so, people think that they are bad and are going to get worse in the future. A lot of things have changed since the 1930s but many people still think that all people are not equal.

African American boys are being shot by white police many of the African Americans think that that is racist and that the police are doing it because the boys are black. In the late 1800's, more and more blacks became victims of lynchings and Jim Crow laws that segregated blacks. To reduce racial conflicts, I advised blacks to stop demanding equal rights and to simply get along with whites. I urged whites to give black better jobs.
As stated before, racism is not something that people thought of in the last ten years, it is an ongoing theme that has been flowing through the story of the United States. Starting from the enslavement of black Africans, and moving along to the days of when African Americans were separated from white Americans even though they lived in the same country and walked the same streets. The 1990s is arguably the most controversial, clamorous, and dangerous times in the United states for race. The beating of Rodney King and the Los Angeles riots were only some contributions to what would lead to the change in the landscape of race relations in the early 1990s. Rodney King would be hit 56 times by 4 white policemen causing him to suffer through a broken leg, his skull being shattered in 11 places, permanent brain damage, and both of his knees injured (Whitman, David). African-Americans used to be treated very poorly by the rest of the United States. They were still treated as though they were slaves until the end of the Jim Crow laws. Even after that, southern states still attempted to keep African-Americans from being equal to the rest of Americans. Taxes were put up in order to vote, which kept African-Americans from doing so because most were very poor. They still did not have equal opportunity in the workforce either.
After the war, issues of race weren't ignored. Black men had come back from a war were they were treated like men. They still weren't treated as equally as whites, but they were treated better during the war than they were back home where they were treated like objects. Racism comes in many forms ad can be expressed in many different societies in various ways. 1 The dictionary defines racism as the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. This definition of racism makes it clear that it is a perceived point of view that implies prejudice towards people or a person based solely on their race. The connection of race and race relations in the United States was an ongoing issue, and while much progress was made, there are still people who revert back to old and ignorant takes on different races as the white man. This clearly relates to my own history based on the fact that various races are still being discriminated and treated unfairly and looked at as unequal. I can only hope that one day the whole population of the world can do the right thing and look at everyone as equals.
If we treated African Americans the same way starting in the 1930’s, we wouldn’t have had so much commotion that we have today. In “Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry” the blacks were so segregated that they had to go to different schools, and they didn’t even have a bus to walk to schools, which took an hour there and back. Another reason why racism has changed since the 1900’s is from the movie “Ernest Green” (which took place in the 1960’s) from Little Rock Nine, where nine black students in Little Rock, Alabama were allowed to attend white schools. These students were physically abused and emotionally attacked. This shows that racism has changed (at least enough to let African Americans go to white schools), even though African Americans were still being discriminated against.
Some of the black codes were still unlawfully enforced for decades after they were made illegal. Some people might not be as racist and have a different mindset then they do now. The segregation that the black codes caused causes people to be more sensitive towards racial inequality because of the segregation the black codes caused. Like how people were getting pissed that the Emmys didn’t have enough black people being nominated. Before World War II, although Abraham Lincoln had spoken the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and the U.S. had gone through the Civil War around 1861, not much had significantly changed for African-Americans. Really nothing changed for African-Americans until much later, around the 1960s, when schools legally had to integrate African-Americans and whites. In relation to other events, World War II began in 1939, Jackie Robinson started on first base in 1947, and Rosa Parks was arrested in 1961. Therefore, at the time leading up to and shortly before World War II, there was not much effective action in terms of equal rights for all races. However, as seen here, after World War II, equality between races became a very prominent, pressing issue. This can partially be traced back to the effect of African-Americans in World War II.

This trend has been around for a long time, from slaves, to discrimination, etc. Although in many cases, people in the time period often tend to act like it does not exist. When looking back on certain situations and their aftermath people then realize the true nature of racism. In 1962, 85% of whites thought that black children in their community had just as good of a chance of getting a good education as white children. The constant trend for lack of knowledge about racism and/or discrimination is real. Now, whites, realize that in 1962 black children did not have as good of a chance, if any, of getting a good education in comparison to white children. In 1969 nearly half of all whites (45%) believed that blacks had a better chance of getting a good-paying job than they did. Racism has been a social problem for a quite long time now, and it is still a social problem. The vast majority are being discriminated because of a certain group of a race, or person, done something that was awful, but this does not mean the whole race is to blame for the actions of others.
