We are moving to the land of freedom.” Stated by Martin Luther King Jr. The book roll of thunder hear my cry it is about In the novel roll of thunder hear my cry there are several characters who have demonstrated a tremendous amount of courage. One person that shows courage is Mr. Morrison. Mr. Morrison shows courage the night he goes with papa and Stacey to strawberry. On their way home the two back wheels on their wagon fell off. As they were trying to fix it a truck pulled up and the wallace brothers stepped out. They had a gun in their hand. Papa told stacey to hide in the ditch. Papa and Mr. Morrison told them to go away but …show more content…

Then Mr. Morrison chased the wallace brothers through the field. One of them was about to shoot him and he picked the one with the gun up and threw him, causing him to get very hurt. The other one got so scared that he ran back to the truck and drove away. Mr. Morrison walked back up the field and carried papa back to the house. Mr. Morrison shows courage because when the white men started shooting papa he risked his life to save him. This happened because of the racism that took place during this time. Papa was shot because he was a black men and white people wouldn’t get in trouble for hurting black people. Another time when Mr. Morrison showed courage was when T.J was about to get hung. The logan kids had helped T.J get home after he was beaten. Then a bunch of people came and took T.J and then they wanted to hang him. The kids ran back to the house and told Papa and Mr. Morrison about what happened. Mr. Morrison and Papa grabbed some guns and started towards T.J’s house. Mama told them that it was to dangerous, but they didn’t listen. They already knew that they could easily lose but they would try anyway. Then a fire started in the logans cotton field.
