McDonalds restaurants are very much embraced by Americans and seen as part of their cultural identity. McDonalds symbolizes the youthful energy, ingenuity, and modern efficiency of America. They have become immensely popular since their opening in 1940 in San Bernardino, California, the popular stop with the big bright yellow M sign that almost everyone can recognize at first sight. As the popularity of McDonalds grows, it becomes indirectly a national identity for America and a natural part to the American culture. It would not be strange to see someone hold a McDonalds meal in their hand on their way to work or anywhere. However, despite knowing that the food is terrible for a human body and health, or the reveal that some of the food they make is unnatural, people still continue to consume high amounts of the restaurant's food. McDonalds today serves and feeds about 68 million people every day. That is more than the entire population in the U.K. It is not just popular in North America but in almost every region of the world where McDonalds has grown a strong international image. It can be found in 118 countries and operates 35, 000 restaurants worldwide. Fast food in general has become more and more common in the twenty-first century. It would not be unnatural today to see someone hold a McDonald’s restaurant drink during lunch time in the bus or on the street in any region in the world. It has become a part of people’s morning routines, waking up and heading to work with a McDonald’s breakfast or coffee in their possession.
