The consumption of a lot of drugs can cause overdose, which severely alters the functioning of organs such as lungs and heart, and can cause death. Complications vary according to the drug used by the individual. Those that are inhaled cause serious health problems in the lungs and those that are injected into the bloodstream, or ingested, can cause infections that affect the whole body. These lesions usually appear after prolonged use of the drugs. Some injuries can be cured only if the individual stops taking drugs. Most long-term drug users die of overdose or suicide in relatively short time of use.
