Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience to support random and mandatory drug testing in schools and to encourage my audience to maintain a drug-free environment in school Introduction: I. Have you ever entered your school to see men in uniform processing drug tests to all students of your school, your friends, and even people you might know who do drugs? Have you ever thought about getting caught if you’ve had taken drugs or alcohol recently? II. Mandatory and Random drug testing in schools are being more used today in our society. Mandatory drug testing is a test to show the school and the government about the well being of us teenagers. III. • The British Journal Of General Practice • The Drug Policy Alliance Network IV. Drug testing was responsible for a significant reduction in cigarette smoking among 8th grade students (13-year-olds) from 35.9% to 24.4%, alcohol use from 39.9% to 30%, and cannabis use from 18.5% to 11.8%. V. Mandatory drug tests have proven to help teenagers reduce the use of drugs and alcohol in their daily lives. If young people get used to it when they are young, it’s proven that they would have a difficult time trying to loss their addiction to the substance. Helps the person without any criminal chargers but with all the help needed. They even have different types of drug tests to show the time period of when the person might have taken a drug recently. It can harm your sense of judgment and make a living hell for some people. Conclusion I. Drug testing is meant to help clean our communities and the schools from drug related problems. Drug testing is an easy yet complicated test for many people. Statistics have shows a dramatic decrease of drug use and abuse in between the years of 2000-2006 (University Services, 2009). The U.K.’s country wide drug testing have helped show scientists all over the world the improvements that drugs testing at schools can make. II. When you walk through the school entrance to be processed, you will be happy to learn that you are not one of the people who need to get help!
