The Vietnam War took place in Vietnam . The battle took place because of political changes towards the Laos and the United States of America. The CIA wanted the Hmong people to help the UNited States during the Vietnam War so they took them as their “slaves” and were apart of something called the “secret war”.The US was having more success in winning the war and taking down the North Vietnamese because they had the Hmong people “on their side”. The Hmong people were taken somewhere else by the CIA to deal with the difficulties towards the war, as the Hmong people knew more about the area than the American soldiers did. The CIA wanted to win this war without any distractions with the Hmong people finding out so that is why they moved to another

Many of my parents' friends who were caught trying to escape were taken to prisons, tortured, and most of them were killed. My parents were terrified of the Vietnamese soldiers and prayed that nothing would happen to them, their brothers, sisters, parents, and their son (my brother) who was 8 years old at the time. They had to flee during the night, pass through the jungles and onto boats traveling across the Mekong River.

Fortunately when Ford passed the Refugee Act of 1980, which assisted refugees who fled from Vietnam and Cambodia, Americans got used to the Vietnamese being in the US. There were about 100,000 Vietnamese that left Vietnam and came to the US. Most who fled Vietnam ended up in California. In California they had one pretty big refugee camp in Camp Pendleton. From there, that’s how the Vietnamese ended up in Orange County.
