How Did The Great Wall Outweighed The Costs?

There is a big controversy if the Great Wall benefits outweighed the costs. Some Chinese people were forced to leave their families. Many people died building the Great Wall. People also had to fight against enemies/ intruders. The benefits did not outweigh of costs. First, many people were forced to leave their families. Since the Great Wall was huge, it required many people to build it. Therefore, they forced many Chinese people to leave their families to build the Great Wall. Those people may have never came back home to their families. The people that had to leave their family may have never came back to their families. They had to leave their family for many years. Some of them got to return home, but most people died building the wall. Others were lost, and couldn’t find their families. They had nothing to do when the Great Wall was done.

The time they were building the Great Wall, was during the Warring States period. Therefore many people had to attack China for power. The Chinese soldiers had to use watchtowers to look out for enemies. Soldiers had to stay up for several nights watching for intruders. When people invaded, the soldiers had to fight to protect the people. Many people died trying to attack the invaders from entering China. The soldiers had a hard enough job as the workers. Finally, many Chinese people died trying to build the Great Wall. The main reasons why most of the people died building the Great Wall was because of diseases, hunger, harsh weather, etc. People were also killed because of slavery. They were suffering. They had to go through all of these harsh punishments and scarce resources. This also gave builders a miserable lives. They had to go through all of these sufferings, just to build a wall.
