“It's always seems impossible until it's done”-Nelson Mandela (“Nelson Mandela”) Nelson Mandela is a anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician and South Africa first ever elected president He impacted the world and continues to impact the world. Even though faced with jail time and discrimination Nelson Mandela became the first elected president of South Africa. He also ended a 50 year long apartheid. He became a worldwide symbol of freedom & struggle. From the begin Nelson Mandela grew up in a very prejudice environment where the black majority was.oppressed. Nelson first began to rise against the government by joining the NCA a party against the pro-apartheid later he was appointed president. From there on he began to lead non-violent protest being arrested several times but was not unsuccessfully convicted. This movement …show more content…

He took a huge risk by going against the South African government by doing protest. One of the biggest Risk he tried to overthrow the government and as stated before was sentenced to life in jail.Then becoming the leader of ANC which is a party against the apartheid. After he wrote a letter to the prime minister and all colored people in South Africa began to march around places that said whites only many people were arrested for doing this. He also risked his life in prison by protesting when he did not see something fir for example he spent a lot of time in solitary because he spoke out “I found solitary confinement the most forbidding aspect of prison life..There is no end and no beginning;there is only one’s mind which can begin to play tricks. Was that a dream or did it really happen? One begins to wonder.”( qtd.in “In prison with Nelson Mandela”). Another risk he took after coming out of jail was going outside when he did not know how the whites in South Africa were gonna react to him and what he is doing.
