Nelson Mandela
He was the president of South Africa, and his full name is Nelson Rolihlaha Mandela. He was born in town called Mvezo, which is fallen in Transkei region. He belongs to Madiba clan. He was from high standard family, and his father was the chief of his town. He was the first member of his family who had been educated in Qunu, and it was missionary school. People stated to call him Nelson because his teacher could not pronounce his original name, which is Rolihlaha. After his father’s death, a man who had a high-ranking position in his city adopted Nelson Mandela. His name was Jongintaba, and Mandela learned a lot of things about to be a leader from this man. Then, he joined Fort Hare University, and it was in 1939. During that he met his friend Oliver Tambo. While they were in the university, they had some political activity. For instance, they protest against the policies of the university at that time, so they dismissed out of the university. Years later, he graduated for Law School, and he got his certification from University of Witwatersand. After his graduation, Mandala worked in different places before be a member of African National Congress. In 1944 he go married and had for children, but 1958 he divorced from his wife Evelyn Mase.
After election, African National Congress became stronger, and they had a great victory. Therefore, the party gained power and became famous in Africa. In 1993, he became the president of South Africa after a long journey of seeking freedom and equality among his people. Under his power, his country attained democratic government without discrimination between the white and black people. He had never talked about racism during his presidential time and had never responded harshly against any racism action. He had very successful time in leading South Africa until he retired because of his health bad condition. Finally, he died in 2013, but he remained in our heart as strong leader, peaceful person, and free man.
In conclusion, Mandela is a symbol of peace and bringing people together regardless of race, language, and religion. Unlike other political leaders in his country who used power to discriminate and violate the human rights, he brought the country into a state of harmony and peace.
He possessed the ability to negotiate with important business people and was a great public speaker. Although he was no perfect human being, he to had a weakness. He did not have the ability to remain loyal to the Anc. He was not able to say loyal to his organization. Besides that Nelson Mandela did many historical things for everyone. He was even awarded a nobel peace prize. He fought for the rights of children, equality for all, stood in the face of oppression and knocked it down. His fearlessness was what his people need. I admire his idea and power to take a stance on a unlawful topic, and never willing to give up. I admire his confidence, his dignity, and his hope that he has for all situations to somehow get better. He didn't just fight for himself, as he had stated in his "I am Prepared to Die" speech, but he mostly cared for the other around him. Before I had done this report, I had a relative perspective on who he was, but once I really began researching Mandela and his life, I found that Mandela was a truly respectable man. He made outstanding reforms, and his ideas and use of power were phenomenally put to use, to make the world a better place.

Nelson Mandela helped bring an end to Apartheid in South Africa because he was a believer in basic human rights, leading both peaceful and violent protests against the white South African Government. His beliefs landed him in prison for twenty-seven years, almost three decades. In doing so, he became the face of the apartheid movement both in his country and around the world. When released from prison in 1990, he continued to honor his commitment to fight for justice and equality for all people in South Africa. According to the BBC (2014), Mandela was sentenced to life imprisonment on account of treason, leaving the country illegally, and sabotage of government property. He was imprisoned for 27 years at Robben Island and Pollsmoor Prison, before being released from Prison on 11th February, 1990, according to Blair & Freeman (2013). His release coincided with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Consequently the ruling government of FW de Clerk established talks with the ANC regarding the formation of a new constitution and the provision of a multi-racial election. Mandela and the ANC won 63% of the vote, resulting in his inauguration as the first black president of South Africa on 10th May, 1994.

Nelson Mandela dedicated his life to the fight against the racial oppression of the apartheid regime in South Africa. In doing so, he became the first democratically chosen black president of South Africa. Nelson Mandela’s life is a blue print for the development of a leader who fought against discrimination and aimed to build fairness and justice, and by doing so, acquired the ultimate achievement: equality for South Africa.

When he was released in 1990, within a year, he was announced the president of the ANC forming a youth league also known as ANCYL-African National Congress Youth League. Also, as challenging as this was, Mandela tried making elections racially undivided and this was a nonsuccess. Anarchy broke out amongst the southern black Africans because they wanted all the power instead of sharing power with the whites, which is what the whites intended. For twenty-seven years he sat in a cell because he believed in a country without apartheid, a country with freedom and human rights. He fought for a country where all people were equal, treated with respect and given equal opportunity. Nelson Mandela looms large in the actions of activists and politicians.
