The Renaissance was a cultural rebirth that occurred in Europe that brought old ancient elements and ideas to rediscovery. One of the most important and popular cultural rebirths was architecture. One of the new inventions was the hoist. The hoist is a tool created by famous Architect Filippo Brunelleschi, one of the most famous architects during the Renaissance. In The Medieval World and Beyond, Wendy Frey stated, “The hoist is a platform that is raised by ropes and pulleys and was originally made to bring materials to workers who were building and working on top of high buildings (325). This changed building for people as it helped people get an easy way of getting materials without having to go all the way to get it. This was a great influence on today because many workers or builders use hoists for the same reason and also sometimes for window cleaning on high-rise buildings. This invention is also highly used today. In many buildings and homes, roofs are usually accessible and create an outdoor plaza for whoevers there; or creates room to join other homes. He wanted to do this because he thought having a grand but welcoming entrance would be nice. This is extremely inspired today because many new buildings for example skyscrapers have huge windows and entrances. Another idea/style used in the Renaissance that has a huge influence on today is how many Architects designed public plazas where citizens could interact in
