There is not a specific definition of art, but the closest meaning of art is the expression of human creative skills and they are really appreciated for its emotional power and beauty. Art can be separated into four parts: painting, music, dance, and literature, but we are mostly focusing on art and music. Art has changed over time, and every time it changes it makes really good things happen to us. This change, not only benefits some people or just one country but the entire world. Art is like a wise relative because it can talk to you in a way no one will understand, but it will also talk to other people in a way that you don’t understand. Art makes us think, and do good things, about others and not just think about us and our necessities. Most of today’s society had already forgotten to appreciate things and this is because the new world has made us forget the “sense of what truly matters”(Culture), but art has made some of the society to still appreciate. Albrecht Durer, John Constable, Van Gogh, and Marcel Duchamp are some artists who glamorized things that were ignored by this new world we all live in. For example, when we are melancholic and you see a piece of art that resembles sadness, instead of depressing us more they rather “gives the welcome feeling that pain is part of the human condition.”(Culture) Also, when you are doing a work that needs a lot of hard labor and you already want to give it up, art can keep us hopeful and keep “us unsatisfied with normal in order to look for new possibilities.”(Caw) With our enthusiasm for prettiness that art gives us, by how the world is now, some people think if people had forgotten what life is really like, but it is the happiness that art gives us that keeps us hopeful of things getting better of what they are

If I were to ask you what is art, and how can one find it? What would you say? Well if it were me being asked those question, I would simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design and it could be found all among us. Rhys Southan’s essay “Is Art a Waste of Time?” is about art and if it can really help people who are suffering or is it just better to hand over your money. In Yo-Yo Ma’s essay “necessary Edges: Arts, Empathy, and Education” he focuses more on art being used as educational purposes to essentially create more innovative/empathetic people. Instead of focusing so much on STEM, the author states that we should incorporate art too. Although some people might say art does not play a role in making the world a better place. I believe it can by bringing awareness to different social issues. Also, if we incorporate art at a young age it can teach kids to be open minded and happier people.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, art is “human expression of objects by painting, etc” (10). The words “human experience” adds meaning to art. Artists reveal their inner thoughts and feelings through their work. When we study a painting by Salvador Dali, the strange objects and the surrealist background portrays the eccentricity of the painter. Some ideas cannot be explained verbally. They can only be shown via a medium. We can get across what is in our minds or our hearts by a stroke of a brush, a drop of paint, a row of words, or something else. But to express ourselves, we do not need to limit what we call art.

However, it may also include the landscaping in a small town square. So then, art is defined as something that deals with both the “useful” and “fine” arts, insofar as they appeal to aesthetic taste, or as long as they are created with the specific intent to cause a reaction, whether it be positive or negative.

Art can be defined in many ways by an individual. One can say that any creative output by a person is considered art. For example, some contend that computer-generated images, such as fractals, are not art due to the large role played by a computer. E.O. Wilson states “the exclusive role of the arts is to intensify aesthetic and emotional response. Works of art communicate feeling directly from mind to mind, with no intent to explain why the impact occurs” (218). A simple definition may be that art is the physical expression of the ideals formed by the mind.
So to answer the question you need to think what is art? To me art is a form of representing a person’s ideas which can be in any form of media whether it be a painting, a film, or a song, a novel or a photograph. For it to be classed as art though it must provoke emotion or thought and show signs of creativity.

The arts, as well as the artist, are very important in today’s society and needs to be appreciated for what it is and what it’s done for us.
The arts have influenced my life in amazing ways. Throughout my life, art has been the place I run to and my escape from the world. As I’ve grown older, art has become so much more than that. Every piece of art I create is a journey into my soul. It’s a priceless way to deal with my emotions and my struggles. I create art not only because I enjoy it and because I want to, but because I have to. Somewhere deep inside there is a driving force, urging me to put my heart down on paper. I become emotionally attached to each of my pieces because they are like dashes on the wall marking my growth. Each one is the solution to a problem I have dealt with and overcome.
Firstly, it enhances students creativity by allowing them to make a self-expression. In most art programms, students are asked to create a painting that represents memory or compose a new rhythm for a piece of music. When students are taught to think creatively, it helps them in their future career. Secondly, the arts improve academic performance, students who are regularly participate in the arts does better in their academic achievement. Thirdly, it develops the students fine motor skills when they hold an instrument such as a paintbrush or oil pastel. Fourthly, while mastering a subject, students build self-confidence. Fifthly, the arts help students to develop their visual-spatial skills. Students need to know more about their sorroundings through visual than just what they can learn through text and numbers. Art education teaches students to appreciate, criticize or interpret by using the visual information. Sixthly, the arts strengthens problem solving and critical thinking skills by allowing the students to make choices and decisions. This is certainly allows them to carry over into their education and other parts of life—as this is surely a valuable skill in their adulthood.
