As an aspiring physician, one of my main reasons for joining the Honors College is to gain the best possible scientific education that I possibly can in my undergraduate years at Purdue. Through the Honors College, I would gain prioritized access to research opportunities and certain classes. With the prioritization to research opportunities, I would be capable of grasping scientific concepts in a real world environment, which is pivotal to my success in the medical field. I would be able to delve deeper into concepts that may have been unavailable to me if I would not have been a part of the Honors College. In addition, the prioritization in choosing my collegiate classes would allow me to sculpt my schedule to encompass both my scientific …show more content…

The sense of community established through the Honors College residential dorms would influence me to aid my fellow college students in challenging topics which I may already understand. This would create a sense of communal learning that many colleges lack, due to the competitive nature of the university. In this way, I along with my peers would both be able to reach our academic potential. Additionally, priority that I would obtain for undergraduate research would allow me to not only benefit from an increased understanding of science but would allow me to contribute to the research community. Through a prolonged experience in scientific research from my freshman year onward, I would be able to make many innovative contributions to the research that I would be working on. Furthermore, the Honors College would foster my leadership qualities. As an honors student, I would be among others who are as academically talented as I am. Being constantly surrounded by those of similar academic talent would push me to be a leader to those who may be struggling in the collegiate environment. I would be able to do this through either creating or joining a student run tutoring service that would allow me to tutor struggling students in a subject that I had already successfully
