As stated in my personal statement, I chose to apply to law school firstly because law attracts me as a system that requires a high level of logical and analytical skills, but my motive lies deeper in the belief that law as a powerful social factor can make palpable and immediate impact on the society. Although not intending to further my education in biochemistry, I have developed a strong interest in biotechnology and the health industry throughout the course of my study. As an effective legal system could potentially better bridge science and its intended beneficiaries by protecting true innovations, maximizing the efficiency of resource-allocation, and safeguarding the interest of those in need, it is my hope that a legal education would …show more content…

The student-led capstone project is a direct proof. I was really excited to learn from Dean Bill Hoye of the encouragement and support students get from their professors and the school as a whole to realize their own ideas, especially in the area of public interest. Such spirit manifested to me through the inspirations shared in "hallway conversations" between students and professors, the professors' request to keep their offices near the teaching buildings during renovations in order to facilitate communication with students, and the spring-break trip funded by the school to materialize a public interest project proposed through the ad hoc seminar. The best part of my own undergraduate experience was having the opportunity to realize my intellectual potential during coursework and research projects, while getting unconditional support from my professors whenever I needed guidance. Personally weather is also a crucial factor: coming from a subtropical city, I cannot count the times when, during the harsh northeastern winter, I swear to go somewhere warm after college.
