In the course of human existence, humanity has faced a profusion of events that have continuously shaped the face of the world until the present. We create history from a long series of events, changes, accomplishments, successes and downfalls. If we can trust the existing accounts of past events, history can serve as an excellent indicator of the future of civilization. People who have seen history unfold before their eyes in particular are the ones who cling onto this idea, observing how history is both dynamic and repetitive. Having engraved into their minds the saying, “The past dictates the future”, the nature of history is common sense to us.

Known at the time as “The Great War”, the global conflict affected millions of lives, causing tremendous damage, a high number of casualties, and resulted to nations harboring bitter resentment towards each other. The majority of people thought that The Great War would be the war to end all wars, that another war of that scale would be impossible. Decades later, the world proved itself wrong. Another worldwide conflict took place, when the rise of the megalomaniac German Chancellor Adolf Hitler led to a series of genocide and invasions of Germany’s neighboring countries. Japan too was annexing territories on the west of the Pacific Ocean, using extreme military aggression. Eventually, the Allied powers defeated Germany and Japan, effectively winning the conflict. The war gained the name of “World War II”. This renamed The Great War, “World War I”. (cite)
Numerous people have already been discussing about the probability of another world war. There exists online discussions and collections of articles about growing tensions. A third war of the same magnitude is a possibility. After all, World War I was unprecedented, and people did not expect World War II to occur. Tensions are growing throughout many parts of the world between many different countries even today, such as the current border conflict between India and Pakistan (source), or North Korea’s bomb threats. The stage is being set, and it would only be a matter of time before a trigger starts World War
