Hinduism is one of the oldest religions that the world has today. It has a very complex history and very in-depth ways of worship. Hinduism also has a very complex conception of time. Being the oldest religion it has a deeper and more meaningful relationship with time. It sees time as just a phase; something that is there to distract us in this world. It also represents the human voyage or cycle into regaining one's wholeness with God- Samsara. Hinduism has deep relations in time such as the concept of rebirth, Yugas and the calendar.

There are four main Yugas: Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga and Kali Yuga. Each Yuga is separated by thousands of years and represents a change in human behaviour or consciousness. Yugas are measured in "divine years." The first Yuga, Satya-Yuga, lasted four thousand divine years, Treta Yuga lasted three, Dwapar Yuga lasted two and Kali-Yuga is the last one. Each divine year is approximately 432,000 earth years. Throughout every Yuga, human righteousness and ways of thinking deteriorate. We are currently in Kali Yuga where the destruction of the world and the birth of a new avatar are to take place. The tenth avatar of lord Vishnu named Kalki who is a warrior that will come to save Sanatan-dharma by destroying all unrighteousness such as kings and leaders. A Panchang is an important book that tells various things in Hinduism that a learned person or a priest consult for various functions, however, it does change every year. It can also be used to tell one's horoscope and to advise on what to name a child when they are born in a certain part of the year. There are 27 possible Nakshatras, which are the 27 constellations which a child could be born under. The 27 constellations are the moons 27 wives. It is believed that when a child is born under a certain constellation, it can affect their personality and their way of life. For example, children being born under the first c named Ashvini which is the Beta Arietis constellation, have a tendency to be passionate, impulsive, headstrong, have a likeness to travel and are intelligent. Children born in this Nakshatra are recommended to have a name that starts with Chu-, Che-, Cho-, are La-. To decide which is best to use, the time of birth is assessed and depending on the time range corresponding with the syllables, the child's name will start with that syllable. In this calendar, there are 30 days or Tithis in each cycle and each day corresponds to the Nakshatras. Although there are 27 Nakshatras, each Nakshatra is can vary from 23-27 hours and will never overlap.
