Module 1: INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH PROMOTION Health Promotion “It defines behavioural social science that demonstrates from the biological, environmental, psychological, physical and medical sciences to sustain health and prevent from diseases, disabilities and premature deaths through behaviour change activities (WHO, 1986). The Population Health Era (1994-2007) According to O’Neil, Dupere and Rootman, 2007 in the book of “Health Promotion in Canada” discussed the following important events during this era • Governmental financial support for health promotion started in Canada and worldwide • Population in Canada increased and Population Health Promotion model builded. 4. The Population Health promotional Era (since 2007) • National and International developments regarding Health Promotion were the important events during this era (O’Neil, Dupere and Rootman, 2007). Population Health Promotion Model Population Health Promotion (PHP) model enlightens the association between population health and health promotion. This model recognizes how population health approach can be executed from the choice of health determinants by the help of health promotion strategies.
