Moreover, all health care workers should all get treated equally, meaning that all workers should have equal rights. Why would anyone not want to unionize our health care professionals? It presents togetherness and would make any hospital organization look good as a unit. Unfortunately, some health care workers do not get equal rights. Some even proceeds to go on strike. Going on strike is not the way to go unless you have a great amount of support and opinions which are in agreeance with what you are on strike about. The disadvantages of union membership are viewed from the employee and employer perspective. Through the employee lens, the disadvantages manifest in the form of fees, loss of autonomy, and less collaborative work environment. As part of the union, you surrender many of your individual rights in exchange for the organized results that can potentially manifest through the collective bargaining process. Therefore, there isn’t any assurance that your individual concern will even be addressed.

Even though the very purpose of a union is to defend the interest of its members, the company could also use the instrument to promote the official point of views of the company’s management. In clear, the union and the management could work in good intelligence to promote the interest of worker and the interest of the company. Generally, the problem between management and union come when they one as another as an adversary and not as a partner. To be more constructive and create a working atmosphere profitable for both parties, union and company’s management need to work side by side to address real problems. Thus, worker must understand that the best job security for them comes primarily from the existence of the company and so their union should not be a mean for jeopardizing the company’s purposes. Similarly, the management must also understand that he will not achieve his annual goals unless the workers are well treated and the condition of work meet the standards set by official rules and regulations. This is a clear psychological contract between the company and it workers. The success of the company depends heavily on the respect of that psychological contract. Personally, I will play the role of a mediator between my boss and the worker who want to unionize and explain. In my opinion, equality is not about being politically correct or telling people what they can and cannot say Its about treating others as you would want to be treated .Equality means making sure patient is been treated equally regardless of colour, age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation and disability. For the NHS, this means every individual have the right to be treated fairly and equally to be able to access services. By so doing , It gives out a positive message and encourage an atmosphere of respect . However, As stated in the Equality Act 2010, the act protect and prevent people who are disabled and vulnerable people from discrimination.

I was very excited to have healthcare as the topic for my groups presentation, I’ve personally never had to deal with the logistics of healthcare or even needed to know how it worked. If I was sick I would go to the hospital or see a doctor and as long as they took my insurance, we were good to go. When we first started thinking about our topic as a group and the elements we wanted to add, we asked ourselves this: “What have we heard about healthcare but know nothing about?” the result was three main categories Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare. We assumed that as a group if we knew little about these topics, then there was a good chance no one in the class did either. Some of the things I found most interesting during the process of creating
