Whether it’s because of race, sexuality, or even other religion, hate crimes are motivated by how they view people because of their personal belief. Organized religion is the main reason for hate crimes around the world. You get the impression that religion is peaceful and each religion should respect each other but this is rarely the case. One example is a church shooting that occurred on Jul 27, 2008 when a christian man walked into a church during a children's play and opened fire on them, killing two and injuring seven others. He did this simply because he did not believe in the church's teachings and that they should be killed. The religious crimes committed because of belief don't end with hatred towards other religions, this also still includes hate against race. To this day there are still religious crimes committed toward race, one example took place on July 17th of this year. Many religions are against the idea of abortion and believe they have a say in whether or not a women can decide to have the operation. This belief often targets doctors who perform these operations. A few people to fall victim to these attacks are Dr. Richard gun in 1993, by an anti-abortion protester. Dr's. John Britton and James Barret were shot to death by Reverend Paul Jennings in 1994. In 1998, Br. Barnett Sleipan was killed in his home by a christian terrorist. In 2009, Dr George Tiller was shot in a church by Scott Roeder. According to the National Abortion Federation, the number of attempted murders is 17, a total of 383 death threats, 153 cases of assault, 13 wounded, 41 bombings, and even 3 cases of kidnappings against doctors who perform abortions since 1977.
