A co-worker and yourself have currently been working for a business for three years and you want to train a new employee so your boss has to choose the employee that work the hardest to get to train the new employee. Upon your request for mentoring a new employee I think I display all the characterics such as hard working, dedication, and being a good mentor. First of all, To be a good employee you have to be hard working. Hard working people get raises at work and they get noticed by their boss and maybe get employee of the month. Also, being hard working gets the job done faster and gets you more money throughout the months you are working. Hard working is a good thing to be because your boss will notice you working hard and getting your work done. …show more content…
If you don't have dedication then you don’t need to be working for the company you're working for. Dedication is a big thing in working for a big business that you are working for or worked for. Dedication will get you to be manager one day because you love the job that you do. Having a good job has to have dedication just to get through the day. Finally, being a good mentor to others is good. Being a good mentor to your employees, your brothers and sisters and other people. Being a good mentor in school and at work are good thing because you will get noticed by your boss and he might let you train an employee for the amount of days he needs it for. Being a good mentor is a good thing because people look up to you for advice and everything else and your boss will see that and he will pick you instead of the other employee. The other employee may not have Dedication and may not be a good mentor to other all the employee may want is money and that's
One of the possible research topics I plan to undertake involves analyzing the impact that mentoring can have on the graduation success rate of African American males, particularly when the mentor is a Black male and the relationship takes place in the south. In my opinion, these relationships can have a profound impact on a student’s ability to persist towards graduating from college. Though my research, I want to hear the stories of Black males who have benefited from successful mentoring relationships with other Black men. I believe that establishing a strong mentoring relationship with Black males at a young age can greatly improve their chance of academic success. Furthermore, I believe that mentoring is a strong early intervention mechanism to prevent Black males from dropping out of high school and deterring them from pursuing degrees in higher education. At the same time, I would like my research interest to focus on African American males in the south, but I would like my scope to focus on mentoring relationships between black men; both structured and unstructured.
A good mentor cans a new job applicant up to speed quicker and helps with answers to questions that may arise. Another sign of a good mentorship program that both parties involved can learn from each other. An organization having a mentorship program can assist with employee retention because it will foster employees feeling valued by the company and this in return develops employee loyalty to the organization (Mathis & Jackson, 2017). This can be a win-win situation for the company because employees who feel they are valued tend to take pride in their work and increase
The three main competencies of the Mentor Role are "understanding yourself and others, interpersonal communication and developing others" (Hesketh et al. , pp. 4). Because high school students are less experienced, the author used this role continually in an effort to develop his students and guide them through their learning experiences. Per Hesketh et al, the author must determine his own strengths and weaknesses so he can maximize them. "Your weaknesses can be overcome through self-development" (Hesketh et al.
The motivation to be successful is very powerful. Some people will work twelve hours a day, seven days a week in order to feel successful. These people will work so
To begin, I honestly believe it is necessary to be dedicated to your job. It is necessary to be one hundred percent dedicated to whatever you are doing if you wish to get substantial results. If you look at statistics, you will realize that it took years of blood and sweat, otherwise known as dedication, to get something fulfilling. Jesse Owens once aptly stated, “We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.” I honestly believe that if you wish to be successful in your occupation you must be willing to put in the effort. You will not be satisfied with your work if you do not do whatever you can to get it done. To sum up, you must ...
Mentorship is an integral part of nursing profession as qualified nurse have the responsibility of supporting and developing future nurses (Hodges, 2009). Hence, this essay will discuss Strategies a mentor can implement to support an underperforming learner in a practice environment. You will interact with numerous people during your lifetime; however, only important and significant people will make influences in your life. In the movie Something the Lord Made directed by Joseph Sargent, Vivien Thomas, an African-American carpenter who dreams of going to college and becoming a doctor, is forced to work as a lab assistant under the instructions and guidance of an arrogant and eccentric cardiologist, Dr. Alfred Blalock. Despite having no college degree, Vivien Thomas is able to learn medical and surgical skills through the guidance of Dr. Blalock, and their cooperation ultimately leads to the discovery of a cure for blue baby syndrome. Similar to Dr. Blalock’s tutelage, I have learned to love biology under the teaching and mentoring of my biology teacher, Dr. Cron. Even though both Dr. Cron and Dr. Blalock are excellent instructors, they are extremely and uniquely different in their mentoring styles. Differences in mentoring styles can have huge influences and impacts on the mentees’ development of skills, and personalities.
I am very interested to become some of the upcoming grade 8s’s mentor. I remember back in grade 8, I had a lot of anxiety coming into such a big high school. I would alway stress and not knowing what to expect. Especially for the first month of school, I was just completely lost and confuse. I would really like to help the upcoming grade 8s, by being there for them. In a way, they will have someone to talk to whenever they encounter problems. I would also be able to provide answers to their question about van tech and much more! Also becoming a mentor for incoming grade 8s also helps me connect with more people. I will be able to learn from them and they can learn from me.
I learned a lot in this class and job that if your mentor or boss is not prepared the people below them will not be prepared. The first thing we did on day one was go view three or four houses to check if they had been staged yet (staging a home is the act of preparing a private residence for sale in the real estate marketplace. The goal of staging is to make a home appealing to the highest number of potential buyers, thereby selling a property more swiftly and for more money) (google.com). Then we showed two houses to a client. After lunch we talked more about what I wanted from this experience or what I hoped to learn from her about real estate.
If you work for yourself, you want to be the best at whatever it is you’re doing, from practicing medicine to baking bread. You also have to have the will to persevere and work long hours at making yourself a success. Yet another part of the answer is having a plan. Some people get up in the morning and let events carry them along through their day. Others plan what they will do with their life and stick to it.
What qualifies a person to be categorized as a "hard worker". He/She would have to be willing to do the work, and not only do it, but do it right. Efficiency, things such as showing up on time, and getting the job done in a decent amount of time. A person would have the knowledge to be able to do their work.
I would like to become a mentor because I would like to contribute more to the club and to work on my leadership experience. Being a mentor has many responsibilities and I can handle the responsibilities and put the club as my first priority. Being a mentor can let me help other students be less nervous about coding if it is their first time since I was also nervous when I first started coding. I can also share the student's success when they succeed and give helpful feedback. I would also learn many new things.
While graduate school is an extremely stressful process, our program has several programs in place that help alleviate some of that stress. In my opinion, one of the most beneficial programs is the mentorship experience that occurs during the Supervision and Consultation class, as it allows third year students to share their knowledge (i.e., mistakes and successes) with second or first years to hopefully make their lives a little easier. Therefore, the following will highlight my mentee experience as a second year student, and then my mentor experience as a third year student. About a year ago when I arranged to meet with my mentor to discuss the internship process, I remember thinking it was way to early to start thinking about internship.
“Never underestimate the impact of a good mentor.” The power of this saying has resonated with me for a long time; something about its message keeps reminding me that parts of me today are what inspired by my teachers who did not only enlighten but also guide me through their experience. When I was a child, I always have a dream growing up to be an inspiring teacher myself. One teacher may change your life forever, and that is what happened to me.
Dedication comes in many different forms including: job, school, sport, marriage, and an enormous amount more. If you have a job and you are working for a promotion. In order to get a promotion you need to have dedication. If you have dedication then you’ll give your time and effort to get to that goal of promotion.
