Hamlet is a tragedy written by Shakespeare. The story is full of betrayal, murder, and spying. The main conflicts revolves around the old king Hamlet’s son, Hamlet, and his evil uncle, Claudius. The old king was murdered by Claudius. Hamlet is visited by his father in the form of a ghost and tells of the murder. Hamlet wants to get revenge. Claudius marries Gertrude, Hamlet’s mother. There are multiple other characters in this tragedy that end up dead. Polonius, the father of Hamlet’s love Ophelia, was accidently murdered by Hamlet, this death caused Ophelia to drown herself, R and G were killed in England, Gertrude drank the poison that was intended for Hamlet, Claudius died due to the poison also intended for Hamlet, Laertes died due to the tip of the sword, and lastly Hamlet died due to the vary same sword. Horatio and Fortinbras were the only two left standing. This is still very relevant today, because everyone can relate to it. Suicide is still a huge problem in today’s society. An article from American Foundation for Suicide Around 44,000 americans die due to suicide every year making it the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. In this story Hamlet chooses life. Ophelia on the other hand does not. She decided to take her own life. She drowned herself. Many people believe there is no other way. They are in such a depression and see no other options. Hamlet on the other hand decided to live.
