STOP the Violence
Texas is one of the states to allow handgun and carry. Do you agree with that law? Have you noticed how easy it's to own a gun? Las Vegas, 2017 a mass shooting occurred, 58 people died when someone shot a gun from the top of the hotel building into a crowd, 2017 Sutherland Spring, Texas a mass shooting at a Baptist church where 26 people died and others were injured. February 14, 2018, a mass shooting was committed in a high school in Florida where it caused 17 deaths. These tragic stories leave me with pain and fear.
The state of Texas passed a law on June 13, 2015, but it just took effect two years ago January 1, 2016. A license that allows people to carry a gun openly in public. The regulations to obtain a gun are the …show more content…

A representative named Gina Hinojosa said “ This isn’t about the second amendment. Nobody is trying to take away any law-abiding person guns this about keeping guns away from criminals”. We should put thought into how the year just started and there have been multiple deaths due to mass shootings, just this past month, and the beginning of February. Many of the people that own a gun, whether is by a license, or not don't have the compatibility to sustain a gun, and the responsibility behind it. This is not just about the second amendment it's about the bigger picture, there are lives at risk here. The people in any public place take a risk every day we aren't safe. This is serious and it should be re-addressed. Like considering on taking action and speaking up, the government needs to make some changes. Murphy, D spoke about the recent tragedy in Florida and said. “This epidemic of mass slaughter, this scourge of school shooting after school shooting, it only happens here, not because of coincidence, not because of bad luck, but as a consequence of our inaction. We are responsible for a level of mass atrocity that happens in this country with zero parallel anywhere else”. The more there's nothing done to make the law to carry or purchase a gun more secure, the more these mass shootings will continue and innocent people die. In Congress, it is a back-and-forth battle between the Republicans, who favor less gun control legislation and a literal translation of the Second Amendment, and the Democrats who would like to see more gun control legislation to protect the safety of citizens. However, more gun control legislation would punish law-abiding citizens, be a direct violation of the Second Amendment, and expand the power of the federal government into areas where the Founding Fathers never wanted it.
