One issue that resonate across cultures is gun control. Recently, there has been a lot of school shootings happening and many students and staff members were injured or killed. Most of the school shooting was caused by a student from the school, which is surprising because how did the student get the guns? I believe that the minimum age to buy a gun should be raised to 20 and there should be tighter gun control laws. Tighter gun control laws would help create a more safer school environment, reduce the amount of violent crimes, and bring peace to society.

A reason why tighter gun control laws would help create a more safer school environment because there would be less under age gun owners . In a 2011 article on gun control laws, Edmund F. McGarrell states that, “For gun control laws to be effective, they need to ease restrictions on legal possession and target illegal possession and use”(Laura K. Egendorf). In other words, he is saying that gun control laws need to focus more on people who illegally have guns instead of the people who legally have guns for it to be effective. This talks about how the current gun control laws are not doing what they are suppose to do and that it need to be stricter. In a 2007 article on gun control, researchers found out that, “States with strong gun control laws have a lower gun death-rate than states with laxer gun control laws”(Tami Roleff). States that does have tighter gun control laws seems to have a lower gun death-rate, which also means that it was more peaceful than those states with laxer gun control laws. This also reveals that having stricter gun control laws does help reducing the amount of gun violence and creating a more peaceful society.
