Growing in Jesus Through the Sacraments Being a good catholic means performing all of the sacraments. Sacraments are "an outward (visible) sign of an invisible grace" (Amodei 7). Jesus is always with us, especially when we perform the sacraments. Every time we do something that Jesus approves of, we are brought closer to him and his Heavenly Father. Every time I receive communion, I feel much better inside, and feel so much closer to Jesus. Receiving the sacraments is something very important in our faith if we want to grow. Jesus is met through the sacraments. His presence is felt the most when we participate in receiving the Eucharist and the act of reconcilation. Another way that we meet Jesus, is when we reach out and provide love and help to those in need (Encountering Jesus). …show more content…

For me reconciliation is a time that I can talk to Jesus and God and not have to worry what they will think of me. I am able to express myself freely without worrying that I am going to be judged or ridiculed for something that I may have said or done. Everyone should take the opportunity and go to reconciliation. This can be especially helpful if you have something that is bothering you or just somethng that you need to discuss with some one. Once you have had the chance to talk to a Priest you will feel like a load has been lifted off your shoulders. Reconciliation should not be looked at like its an opportunity for you to talk about the bad stuff you have done or possible about to do. It can also be used to discuss personal conflict or hardship that somone might be dealing with in their

The Eucharist accepts that Jesus had the ability to turn bread and wine into himself for his people. Receiving the Eucharist is the acceptance of the Last Supper and the symbolic meaning along with it. Jesus Christ is referred to as the anointed. At baptism we are anointed with holy oil to welcome us into the Catholic faith. In confirmation we again, confirm and renew our faith and individually commit to the vows our godparents had spoken for us. Again we are anointed with holy oil, symbolizing the truth of Jesus Christ, the anointed one. The sacraments are a rite of passage among the Christian people. We are all tied to one faith and the sacraments are the links that we tie it all together. Sacraments sometimes required preparation. In preparation of a sacrament, we are taught the underlining faith of Jesus Christ. Through our sacramental practices, we accept and acknowledge the faith of Jesus and who he was. Sacraments bring people of the church together in celebration. These gatherings are common ties among people of faith and their acceptance of God and Jesus.
