Grey's Anatomy
Grey's Anatomy's is a great soap opera because the cast is broad and varied. Alex Karev, Meredith Grey, April Kepner, and Cristina Yang are all surgeons who have gone through many professional and personal trials. One character, Dr. Owen Hunt, is the chief of surgery, an Iraq veteran, trauma specialist, and Christina's ex-husband. Callie Torres, an orthopedic surgeon, and Arizona Robbins, a pediatric surgeon, recently married. Dr. Derek Shepherd and Meredith Grey are also married. Dr. Miranda Bailey, an attending surgeon, who is fighting for a seat on the new board, tries her hardest to get through a problem that wasn't her fault, but she can't get over it. Former chief, Richard Webber, tries to find the best in every surgeon, and tells them what they need to hear, even if it is telling them they aren't meant to be a surgeon. These interns aren't just learning how to operate on people, they're trying to figure out how to balance a new job and life, and seeking happiness in a competitive profession. Their choices often lead to life lessons. In other words, the word "Grey" in the show's title could easily refer to its characters' way of living and expression to their everyday obstacles.

It just seems every time the show tries to make a meaningful statement about self-sacrifice or forgiveness, that heartfelt moment gets derailed by flashes of partial nudity or explicit sexual
In the prologue of Friday Night Lights, by H.G. Bissinger, football team, Panther, has players who have fears/problems to overcome before a important game with their biggest rival the Midland Lee. The main characters include Boobie Miles who had dealt with a tragic accident on his knee the last game he played causing him to get surgery leading him to not play as well as he did before, Jerrod McDougal who knows he can’t make a collage team because of his height, Mike Winchell who lives in poverty with his mother, Ivory Christian who has a love/hate relationship with football, and Brian Chavez who is a gifted football player and student being on top in every class.

Running for more than 11 seasons, Grey’s Anatomy is never boring. A dramatic, blood pumping (literally) show that will get you saying, “I learned that medical term from Grey’s Anatomy!” Grey’s Anatomy follows a group of doctors in Seattle. We follow the protagonist, Meredith Grey (played by Ellen Pompeo) struggle with her relationship with her colleagues children, and recently (*spoiler alert*) her deceased husband.
Everybody Loves Raymond Everybody Loves Raymond is a family sit com television show about a married father of 3 children residing across the street from his parent’s house, therefore, his family are constantly interrupted by the kids, his brother, and parents. Season 1 episode 1 starts off with Raymond and his wife struggling to balance life with kids, work, and family. Since his wife is a stay at home mother of infant twins and a 3 year old girl, Raymond allows his wife to take a day off with her girlfriends and to enjoy herself without the supervision of his parents, inviting them without permission or an advance notice. As a result, Raymond’s failure to satisfy his family by lying soon gets caught. The scene allows him the perfect opportunity to voice out his feelings about the privacy of his own house.

Meredith Grey, a main character in the television show, Grey’s Anatomy once said, "Surgeons are control freaks. With a scalpel in your hand, you feel unstoppable. There's no fear, there's no pain. You're 10 feet tall and bulletproof.” Dr. Grey said this in the third episode, first season of the hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. The ABC series, created by Shonda Rhimes, first aired in 2005, and is in its tenth season, with new episodes on Thursday nights at 9/8 central. The series averaged 16.4 million viewers throughout its first 10 seasons, peaking at 25.41million viewers in the third season. (U.S.) The series concerns several surgical interns and their journey to becoming full-blown surgeons. In the average show, the viewer sees several complicated, unordinary medical cases in which the doctors attempt to save the patients life. The cases are always very dramatic which makes for a great television show. Often times the medical cases will have something to do with the doctors’ personal lives, which are just as dramatic. These connections make the situations seem so real, and make viewer believe that their doctor is just like the one that he or she sees on TV. This blur between what the viewer sees on TV, and his or her real life experiences, is backed up by the Cultivation Theory. (Quick) In the healthcare world, a distortion of reality caused by the viewing of Grey’s Anatomy, has an overall positive impact of real-life patient satisfaction with their real world doctors.
For my movie choice, I decided to view, “Switched at Birth” Season 1: Ep.1.What I found truly captivating is how concerned Daphne’s biological parents were of her condition, while the woman who raised her attempts to show the Kennish family that deafness is not a weakness. The first episode was very informative on how Daphne went deaf after catching meningitis. Throughout the episode, the viewer can clearly see how the hearing and deaf community perceive each other and it presents itself when the Vasquez and Kennish Family unite.
“Everybody Loves Raymond” is a television show that only few people today can actually say they had not seen this sitcom. It was one of the highest rated show during it run on CBS television network but has anyone ever noticed how much of a gender stereotype bonanza this show was? Most sitcoms follow the same pattern with the primary goal to make us laugh that, we tend to ignore the obvious and just assume this was the expected behavior for men, women even children in our society. Shonda Rhimes’ medical television drama, Grey’s Anatomy, takes place is Seattle, Washington in the fictional Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. The series focuses on the fictional lives of a group of surgical inters and residents, whom evolve into specialized doctors, while trying to maintain a personal life with significant others and loved ones. The series has seen many characters come and go, but Dr. Meredith Grey is the central character of the show. The television series has a lot of trauma either in patient lives, such as car accidents or illnesses, or in the doctor lives, such as a hospital shooting or a plane crash. Grey’s Anatomy expresses the causes of PTSD better than Pretty Little Liars, but still does not express all possible traumas
Seinfeld used to be one of the most watched television shows in the world. Some of its characters such as Kramer and Jerry became household names. With each character having a comic flare and so much character development, it was definitely a show to be reckoned with. It was so big that Jerry made one million dollars a episode, while his co-stars were paid six hundred thousand per episode. Although this show was not being made when I was born, I watched one episode of it and have been eagerly excited about it every since then. I love to see how each of the characters are developed and learn how much work ethic they put in to make these comic roles so successful. Also, my favorite character is Kramer because I see that I have a lot of similarities
When my mom asked if I wanted to see this year’s Lakeside musical, I honestly was a bit unwilling. It’s not that I didn’t want to support my two or three friends up on stage and in the crew; I just don’t have a very good track record with high school performances. I’m a critic: I have always been very critical of myself, and very critical of others. I unwittingly judge the actors onstage, and end up feeling guilty because I probably could have done no better. On top of this warped superiority/inferiority was the nature of the musical they were performing; all throughout third grade I had been obsessed with the movie-musical Hairspray. I knew all the songs, most of the lines, and wasn’t sure if anyone could top Queen Latifah. But I was mistaken.
Grey’s Anatomy is a medical drama that encompasses the professional and personal lives of interns and residents as they strive to become surgeons. The beginning of the series focuses on one intern, Meredith Grey, who is taking part in the residency program at Seattle Grace Hospital. Throughout the seasons the backgrounds, and aspirations of the characters are explored, while following their present day lives. The series is based off of the doctors everyday lives, but concerns itself mostly with their personal lives, using their professional lives as a backdrop to character development. The medical cases aid the plot of the series most often by the patients saying things that relate back to the dilemmas the characters are going through. This along with the relationships between colleagues connects work to personal life, often mixing professional and private relationships into one.
Throughout six seasons of AMC’s ongoing hit show The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes, the main protagonist, has grown from: a tough guy police officer with a soft heart for helping others (almost always coming with a great personal risk) to the ultimate leader and survivor. Rick’s character arc during the first five seasons of the show, were about the ongoing growth/development of Rick, along with little benchmarks along the way in the form of gruesome but necessary murder. During Rick’s character arc, he goes through three major phases that reflect his morals and view of the world. These changes are then highlighted by the various brutal gory kills Rick has achieved. We as viewers get an in depth look at this gradual evolution as he fights to survive
Surgeons have a lot on their plate when it comes to their work. Surgeons are doctors who are specialized in certain surgeries and operations. While being a surgeon there are many subspecialties that one surgeon could pursue (Field). Surgeons will diagnose and treat patients depending on their condition. They will perform a variety of surgeries on the every single part of the human body (“Surgeon”).
