The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Colors play an important role in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. What colors represents are the areas of Oz’s land. Green symbolizes Emerald city, which was where the Wizard of Oz lived. White meant that you was in the middle of all the land, basically white undetermined. Yellow was the land of the Winkies, which was on the west side of the land.
Green represented Emerald city. Emerald city is where Oz lives and grants people wishes at. If you wanted to see Oz you would have to see Oz at Emerald city to visit him. Everything in Emerald city is green. Green (Emerald city) symbolizes the land of the good. I say this because Oz lives there and Oz is a good man that grants people wishes also ruler of all land.

As Dorothy approaches her magical destination she notices the abundance of the rich color. There is not a hint of anything but green. The city is dripping with green including the clothes, money, food, books, and flowers. Not to mention the green people, with green hair and green tinted faces. Green is often connected to money and riches but in this case it is related to the prosperity of the beautiful city. It is being led by a powerful wizard that everyone worships and respects. That leadership helps the city grow and flourish so successfully. The spirited color gives the feeling of trust between the wizard and his people.
In like manner, green is also used to symbolize money. In the story, money controls the life of the people in the story. Gatsby feels that he needs green money to live and to impress Daisy. Symbols of Gatsby’s money included his large green lawn and the green ivy growing up his house. Also, in his car, it depicts the passengers sitting “in a sort of green leather conservatory.” All of these symbols depict Gatsby’s money.

What he mainly does is throw parties to see if Daisy would show up and when she doesn’t, he goes in his backyard to see the green light which is where Daisy and her husband Tom lives at every time. When Gatsby started talking to Daisy it was like he was a brand person. He tried everything in his power to make Daisy to go back with him. That was in the beginning of the story, with that to describe the green light in this situation with Gatsby it was like a rebirth for him and the start of a new life.

She learns from the munchkins (citizens) that to return home, she needs to travel to the Emerald City, where Oz the Great and Powerful will help her. On her journey she meets the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and The Cowardly Lion; the three accompany her due to their desire to also receive gifts from Oz. After enduring many dangerous encounters with traveling troubles and defeating the Wicked Witch of the West with Oz’s instruction, she is finally able to return home by clicking her silver shoes together three times.
