The setting of the Great Depression is important to understanding the characters in Of Mice and Men because we get a sense of what they are going through. During the Great Depression the people who lived in California were going through the dust bowl. Which meant that a lot of people lost their jobs. In the novel George and Lennie were complaining about how hot is was when they were on their way to their new jobs. “...
