Grease’s Ending : My Analysis and Story Closure All in all, I fairly enjoy the ending of Grease. I understand the resolution of Sandy changing herself seeming troublesome, but I believe that there was more to this than what meets the eye. I believe the message that was trying to be conveyed was if you truly love someone, you should learn to understand, accept, respect, and love them for who they are. This can be seen by Sandy dressing as a greaser, and Danny dressing as a letterman. I realize this statement may sound contradictory, but once again, I believe this wardrobe change was supposed to represent something else entirely. In my opinion, this visual change was supposed to show these two characters learning to walk in the shoes of the other person, both figuratively and literally. In the song which follows this turn of events, (“ You’re the One that I Want.”) Sandy repetitively sings, “ You better shape up.” She’s trying to tell Danny that if she’s going to sacrifice some lifestyle traits in her life to love and be with him, than he better do the same for her. For clarification purposes, I understand this can be seen either as a deep analysis, or a far reach on the subject. Therefore, I agree that some minor details could be changed to better show this representation of sacrifice and
