Having good work ethics is very important when working in long term care facilities. Having good ethics includes genuinely caring for residents, how you speak, how passionate you are about your job and if you are willing to go far lengths to finish you job, also how you treat the others around you, and how well you work with others. How you look while working in a long term care facility is important because it shows you respect yourself and the people you are taking care of. Wearing the appropriate clothing and accessories for that environment is very important because wearing your street clothes while at work can harm the patients’ health because you do not want to carry germs to and from home as risk getting family or residents sick. …show more content…

In a medical environment you would use medical terms and speak to patients in a way that will not offend them. For example not using curse words and talking in a too loud tone of voice that is not intimidating or that will not scare the patient. You should always make sure you speaking in a calm and collective tone so patients can feel comfortable talking to you. How you act at work should be different than how you act at home. Never bring your home life to work. Always show up in a good mood and with a positive attitude. Your attitude can be contagious and rub off on others and cause them to be in a bad mood as well. If you show up in a good mood it can make the others around you including patients to be in a good mood as well. Treating others with respect will affect the way they treat you also, and your relationship with your residents/ patients. If you treat others badly then they will do the same to you. You should never give someone less respect then you feel that you deserve, it will cause tension in the work environment and make the people around you uncomfortable and that is not a good example of professional work
