Guys are athletic, guys are strong, guys like girls who are hot, and the girls take care of the kids. These are stereotypes many girls around the world for generations have had to deal with. Basically, the thought of girls being inferior to boys. Girls try so hard to be the perfect picture of the girl the guys want to see or the cheerleader instead of the athlete but in most cases that is not what makes the girl happy. Girls struggle with body issues because the way we look matters and because it seems like an “expectation” for us to be a certain way. Girls should be themselves and not need to be what everyone wants them to be.

We think that in order to be pretty, you have to have big boobs, a flat stomach, a big butt and a pretty face would be a bonus. Girls look down and see a “big” stomach and start to get worried. It was the beginning of summer and my best friend was hosting a pool party with guys too and I was too uncomfortable to take off my shirt, so I just didn’t swim when everyone else was. It was so hard for me to be that uncomfortable with my stomach that I missed out on a lot of fun. That week I ate the very minimum. I might’ve had a salad or smoothie once a day but that was all. Many girls throw up to be skinnier or excessively workout. This stereotype is not healthy for anyone to have to live by. The perception girls have that makes them decide what they need to look like is based on what guys think but also what models show. Models always look “perfect” being tall, skinny, and all around beautiful. Many girls feel like that’s another way they need to be, because otherwise we can’t look like that model or be like that model meaning, we are not pretty in general.
