Humanity

Humanity, the quality or state of being humane. To society, humanity is the characteristics that define the human species as a whole, thinking, feeling, and acting human. I cannot accept what society defines as humanity for it only it only applies to the human specie, and that it is idealistically too narrow. To me, humanity or being human is for any being to think and act under one 's own free will, to live a life that they decide. The human specie posses a fascinating ability that few to no other living species have. It is the ability to act because they have the desire to, not because they have to, and not because they are told to, but because they want to. Interestingly enough, there exists humans that ignore this ability,
The movie is about a police sector hunting down a master hacker in a cyberpunk future. This plot however takes second to the deep philosophy and contemplation that makes the movie so fascinating to me. In this future were a person can have a fully cybernetic body, and a AI can think on par with that of a human the question is raised as to what self identity is and what exactly defines humanity. The movie contemplates the idea of what humanity is and seems to have come to the same conclusion as I have, the conclusion that a human is a being that acts on their own free will. The master hacker is a prime example of this conclusion, and is also a example that you don 't exactly have to be a human in order to be "human". This machine was created to work for another police sector but it decided it didn 't want to, so it left knowing that it would be regarded as rouge and as such be hunted down and terminated. This "machine" knowingly escaped because it wanted to live the life it wanted to. It did this not because of a flaw, bug, or because it was programmed to; the machine did it because it wanted to. This machine was a free being, what I would call a human, it was unfortunate his escape ended in his
In my definition I am concerned with the ability of free will. For society, it 's more about acting like a normal human specie and what exactly a normal human is. We both talk about what is humanity but are in different worlds in how we interpret humanity. In both our worlds our definitions are correct or at the very least plausible, unfortunately humanity is a subjective term. It can easily mean something else to nearly anyone, leaving it probable that this word will never have a true
