How do you classify rather someone is human or not? A tricky question has many different possible answers, but only a few that could be justified as being human. Kazuo Ishiguro has addressed this topic in his book Never Let Me Go. A reoccurring question throughout the novel is rather or not these clones are considered a human being or just another science project. Suspicious individuals of the surrounding communities in the novel, believed that the students were not human, because they could not reproduce, they did not have any parents, and for the slight fact that what the students were going through was morally unacceptable. In my opinion, Ishiguro shows that the clones are indeed human, because of their artwork, which proves that they have creativity, they show emotion and the clones can do human like things.
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro is a novel told from the perspective of a student, Kathy H, who attends this boarding school, Hailsham, in England during the 1990s. She tells her story of what it was like growing up and how she became where she is today. The students were raised at Halisham until they got old enough to donate their vital organs. This raised speculation in the community on rather or not they were humans since they were actually repilicate of someone else DNA. Madame and the other guardians of Halisham main goal was to prove that they were indeed humans and to protect the students. However, the community did not accept the fact that they could be human, which eventually led to the shutdown of the school years later.
Humans are a unique set of species with many defining characteristics. A majority of people when asks what makes you human, would say being able to breathe, talk, bleed, and reproduce....

As Ruth said, sometime she gets a feeling “to do it”. Humans experience this feeling and desire to have sex, which proves ones humanity.
Some who oppose the idea that the clones are human because they have a desire to have sex, would claim that they are not human because they cannot reproduce. Yes this ture the clones cannot reproduce, but there are also humans in the real world who cannot reproduce, so they depend on other methods like adoption. Humans who cannot reproduce still desires sex, like the clones in the novel that desire sex but cannot reproduce. This idea and the fact that there are real humans who can relate helps prove their humanity and not deny it like some may think.
