Literary Universe 2016 - - General Zaroff has just created a new type of game, this is a game that is far more dangerous than any game that we have seen in the Olympics. He said that hunting animals was such a boring “sport” because they are so predictable, now he found a new species to hunt . . . Humans. General Zaroff is now known as the champion in this game, but a new player has stepped up to the plate. Sanger Rainsford is an adventurous hunter who confronts the nature of life and death for the first time in his life during his few frightening days on Ship-Trap Island. When Rainsford first meets General Zaroff he challenged Rainsford to his new game that he has created. At first, Rainsford declined his invitation, but then Zaroff forced him to play this game. So, General Zaroff gave him a knife, some food, and some clothes. Once he left the chateau, the game had finally begun. …show more content…

The General has quickly found Rainsford but he lets him escape because he wants a challenge. After, Rainsford ran to another part of the jungle and made a booby-trap called a “Malayan mancatcher" to kill Zaroff. The trap only wounds Zaroff, who returns to the chateau and promises to kill Rainsford the following night.Then Rainsford ran for hours until he accidentally steps into quicksand, once he was able to get out, he digs a pit, lines the bottom of the pit with sharp wooden stakes, covers it with foliage, and then hides in the brush nearby. Sadly one of Zaroff’s hunting hounds activated the trap and plunges to his death, forcing Zaroff to return to the chateau
