In the book The Outsiders their are two different gangs the Socs and the Greasers. These gangs are rivals the gangs can be good and bad. They watch out for each other and are good friends. The downside is when they have gang fights thier can be damage and it can cause the police a lot of trouble. Inside of gangs their are smaller gangs like Ponyboy’s group or the Shephard gang. There are no adults in the gangs. These gangs have rumbles but it never seems to change anything. The greasers are on the bottom the Socs are on top. Gangs really are the only thing some of these kids have. The Socs are considered the west-side rich kids they drive corvairs and live in the nice neighborhood. The socs wear nice clothes and usually get through high school and make it into college.The Socs at the beggining of the book seemed to have no emotion just really tough. They don’t have much money and don’t drive nice cars. “Us greasers steal things and drive old souped up cars.” They live on the east-side of town and are really rough with each other. They have lots of emotion and really care about each others well-being. The only real family they have are each other. Greasers like to hangout at the Dingo and Jays. The greasers homes are cramped because they don’t have that much money. Greasers and Socs are have differences and similarities. The greasers have emotion and feel things the Socs were stuck-up and emotionless. The two groups are always in a non-stop war with each other. No matter who wins the war the greasers will be on the bottom and the Socs on top. The two groups don’t exactly have it made but the Socs life is much easier. The gangs are tough but they always watch out for each other. They both have their own territory the west-side is the Socs the east-side is the greasers.
