Of all the sports in the world: soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, etc. Is gaming considered one? For multiple years now, people in the gaming industry have promoted the idea of eSports. It is pretty clear, to this day, gaming is definitely considered a sport… at least by some people. It is the 21’st century and a new era is rising… The gaming era!
Why is gaming even considered a sport now? Just looking up a definition tells us: A sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against each other or others for entertainment. Many people have an understanding that gaming has absolutely no physical exertion. This misconception is shared with the idea that gamers never see life beyond the computer screen or have no lives, but when one individual was confronted with this idea, they claimed, “ I am a gamer and I am proud because gamers don’t only have one life, they have multiple.” If anyone is insulted of their extra activities they will feel bad. Take a glance at any game. No matter what type of game it is there is always a story, sometimes it is hidden. The quote, “A picture describes a million words” can be expanded within a video game. The whole reason behind this is because the story or backstory of a video game can show a story that can continue until the end of the world because realistically, does a picture or photo have an ending? No. A Videogame is a string of pictures, the string can go on forever to explain a beautiful story. Instead of reading a book and imagining that you are in or part of the story yourself a Videogame is straight to the point and puts you behind the wheels of the character, making you feel like you are part of the story, and the entertainment factor does not lack. A video game is like a book they both can be good or bad, but only one gives you the visual
Video games are bad. Because when somebody plays and gets off it makes them in a bad mood. But video games are good to kill time. And video games are getting more better and they are getting better graphics. And it looks better like if you were there.

Video games have become a hot topic recently. There have been a lot of controversy over whether to play or not to play. You can become immersed in video games, because of this they are both a highly entertaining escape from the real world and a complete waste of time.
...it sports require movement if even the slightest. It would not be the right thing to do to call this a sport it would disgrace the name of sports and it could be insulting to those who participate in real sports. Considering all the training and hard work put into their game then have a poker player who probably does nothing in preparation for their game but yet can have the title of athlete. Does not seem fair to all the athletes that risk injury in pursuit for glory in their sport. A card game is not a sport like Matt Pusateri says in his article “lets try to pretend it’s something it isn’t .” "The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibility of practicing sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play." –Olympic Charter
To this day video games are not considered a sport because it doesn’t require physical work. Even though it is not considered a sport, events exist in which teams compete for a big prize. Some people think that video games are a sport because it requires an incredible ability to play video games and know how to play the variety of games that exist. Others think that video games are just moving your fingers and pressing buttons, but it goes a lot further than that.
A sport is something that requires someone to have a special set of skills to do what they are doing within the said sport and also a sport requires some form of physical excellence in said athlete NASCAR simply does not have this no matter what type of shape you are in you can drive a car. NASCAR drivers are not really special either due to the fact that nearly everybody in this world can drive a car. NASCAR is taking a basic everyday thing and putting a competitive feel to it which simply does not work if it did anything and everything could be a sport. If all a sport was something that had a competitive feel to it then breathing could be a sport or even sleeping could be if it just had to have a competitive side to

What makes something a sport? What characteristics define a sport? Why do we feel that some sports are not considered sports when we have never played them? When you google the definition of a sport this is what you will find “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” So as long as there is physical activity and competing then whatever you are playing is considered a sport. When you think of a “sport” that should not be considered one what is the first that comes to mind; why? Why is it when googling “Sports that aren 't considered sports” Cheerleading comes up so often?
Before I read about procedural rhetoric, I always wonder why is video games so appealing to me compare to other forms of media such as movies or books. What my understanding of why this is happening is rather than watching someone else going through adventures, we are the adventurers in video games. In video games, we are more aware of what is happening to us and the characters within the game.
Video games have come a long way. They have evolved from the simple game of Pong into a complex, multi-platform, multi-genre, multi-billion dollar industry.
Gaming is sitting in front of a screen playing games, just like the stereotypes suggest, so why is there even a debate? Luckily for esports there is a category of sports called mind sports. Mind sports are everything from chess to speed reading. Mind sports rely on quickened mind and motor skills in order to compete tasks of intelligence and strategy. Gaming is just that, strategizing with a team to outwit the other team and win.

Many people believe that Video-games are a sport, but the few oddballs are disagreeing. According to debate.org it’s 66% to 34%. That’s more than half the people. There is not enough people that disagree to stop video-gaming being a sport. For those that stick with
First of all video games can benefit the person playing the game. Video games strengthen reading and visual skills. In the article “what video games can teach us” by Emily Sohn, Sohn says “because kids are interested in the game, they often end up reading at a level well above their grade.” This statement is true about anything, a person will do things as long as they think it benefits them. In a kids case they believe that reading during the game will help them beat the game. Therefore they will read even though they may not realize that they are improving their literacy skills at the same time as playing the game.A game may improve your visual skills as well. A study made by researchers from the University of Rochester came to the conclusion that video game players gain better visual skills than people that don’t play them. Video game players can keep track of more objects at a time. As well as pick out objects quicker out of a cluttered environment.
