How to Procrastinate Have you ever heard friends or family members brag about how productive they were that day, or week, or month? Those people really bother me. And it's because I can never get anything done; it takes me a long time to accomplish the simplest tasks. I pride myself in being a grade A procrastinator. My three specific examples will help anyone perfect the arts of wasting time and procrastination. Then you can brag about how extremely unproductive you were today. I am not a super messy person, but I don't necessarily keep my room clean all the time, either. Many a time I have opted to put away my clothes, clean out my binder and my backpack, make my lunch for the next day, and/or take a shower before I get to my homework. Doing all these activities takes a while, and I usually end up doing all of them on nights when I have a lot of homework, or if I have a test the next day. Any type of cleaning or household chore would work, though, such as scrubbing the shower, vacuuming, or dusting. Another great way to waste time is to daydream. I can sit for fifteen minutes or more before I realize that I should be doing something else. I usually think about something that happened that day, and then imagine an alternate ending. Or I will imagine calling someone on the phone, and play out the entire conversation in my head. Sometimes I look out the window and look at all the trees, clouds, squirrels, or even the grass in my backyard. This is a great procrastination method when combined with a simple cleaning task, like cleaning out a backpack. The best way to procrastinate is to interact with other people. That way you can lay part of the blame on someone else: "Well, Mom was talking to me about something important. I couldn't just walk away." I prefer to talk on the phone to friends who go to schools far away. We usually don't talk too often, so when we do, we have to make it count. For those that who don't want to spend a mountain of money on phone bills, any kind of messaging system on the Internet is a great way to communicate.
Post-Cold War Asia has been witness to a China that increasingly focuses its foreign policy on its neighbors rather than on a regional or global context. This stems from China's realization that free markets have triumphed over centrally planned economies and that a world revolution is not going to happen. This has two implications. One, China no longer needs to divert resources to involve itself in global politics since the proletarian revolution is not going to take place. Second, China needs to embark on a program of economic development and modernization (F. Wang p. 32 and J. Wang p. 80).
Liberals of the Age hold these pieties to be self-evident it states that violence is equal and must be condemned equally; and that non-violent civil disobedience is everywhere and a more effective tactic when it comes to social and political justice. There are two hypocrisies to avoid, one is the hypocrisy of those who fetish violence as a tactic of the oppressed even where it’s ineffective and unjust then they demand support from people.
In this essay it will be argued that nonviolence encourages violence by the state and corporations. The ideology of nonviolence creates
Procrastination is the word that I would use to thoroughly depict people. It’s not that everyone procrastinates, but most people do, and almost everyone has at least once in their lifetime. I am positive that you have put off an assignment and had good reason to do so. I often put off all my assignments because the TV is always a better way to spend my time. The history paper can wait, as can the dog that needs feeding. The job doesn’t need to be completed until the very last minute. Now, there is a very sound science to procrastinating. Some would say that it is a skill; furthermore, all my friends refer to me as the “Pro” crastinator. Procrastinating is the best thing ever it feels amazing, and especially if the assignment is boring. The
The use of civil disobedience is a respectable way of protesting a governments rule. When someone believes that they are being forced into following unjust laws they should stand up for what they believe in no matter the consequences because it is not just one individual they are protesting for they are protesting for the well-being of a nation. Thoreau says ?to resist, the government, when its tyranny or its inefficiency are great and unendurable.? People should only let wrong and right be governed by what they believe not the people of the majority. The public should always stand for what is right, stand when they think a government is wrong, and trust in their moral beliefs.
Procrastination might seem as a very basic topic to research about, and even though I might not find the answer to what I need to. One of the reasons of why I chose this theme because is something that no one will be more interested than a procrastinator. Being a procrastinator myself, I’m always making excuses to not work or even to study. Another reason is that of many people think that procrastination is the same as laziness. Understanding the difference between these two themes is very hard because many people don’t know the importance of knowing how procrastination starts. Procrastination has been linked to many disorder like; depression, irrational behavior, low self-esteem, where laziness doesn't appear anywhere close. A procrastinator might have one of these negative aspects, and they aren’t aware and go with that definition of procrastination that the society has implanted. Which is procrastinator are lazy people. For adults, this is very hard to assimilate, and to deal with now imagine in high school how hard it can be, even though there you have a lot of help from other adults. In the university is harder and for some hardcore
Just as they are standing face-to-face with each other, I am standing face-to-face with procrastination. I encounter difficulty managing my time with just about everything I do; I always wait too long. Throughout high school I was never in a hurry to get any of my work done. The work was easy to me, so if I waited until the last minute to do anything, it wasn’t hard for me to finish. I could always take my time to get everything done and still get a good grade in high school. Even if the work was harder and took me a little extra time, my teachers were all very lenient and accepted late work. My high school was very easy and allowed me to get into the bad habit of procrastinating.
Typically, people who develop an eating disorder are in emotional turmoil. They want to be in control but feel they are not. Any anxiety, self-doubt, or feelings of failure or inadequacy become tied to how they look. When being thin becomes an obsession, when self-worth becomes associated with slimness, the stage is set for eating disorders. People with eating disorders become preoccupied, even obsessed, with food and weight. Eating disorders can lead to extreme behavior including self-starvation, bingeing, purging, and compulsive exercise. Untreated eating disorder lead to heart damage, depression, permanent health damage, or suicide. Eating disorders-- anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder are psychiatric illnesses that affect over five million American women and men.
Bulimia nervosa is a serious psychiatric illness. People who suffer from bulimia binge eat regularly and try compensating for their behavior by over exercising, purging and fasting; according to the National Library of Medicine a significant number of people with bulimia also have anorexia (Nordqvist, 2009). There are many warning signs and symptoms that come along with bulimia such as: binge eating, purging, over exercising, constant change in bodyweight, disappearing after eating to the restroom, depression, and damaged teeth (Nordqvist, 2009). Not only does bulimia affect ones physical appearance but it also affects a persons state of health because there are many consequences that come along with this disorder such as: sto...
From the experience I’ve just shared, I procrastinated for a seemingly just cause – though it was not worth it. Most of us procrastinate for very flimsy useless reasons. These are what we call distractions or time-wasters. Distraction may not necessarily be substitutes for things we procrastinate but they can surely have equally devastating effects. For this reason, I will advise you to vehemently resist them.
It has been said that Kool-Aid makes the world go 'round. Let it be advised, however, that without the proper tools and directions, the great American beverage is nothing more than an envelope of unsweetened powder. There are five simple steps to create this candy-tasting concoction.
Eating disorders affect five to ten million Americans adolescent girls and women and approximately one million American boys and men. In addition, approximately 70 million individuals in the world struggle with this disorder. In a single person’s lifetime, approximately 450,000 individuals will die because of this terrifying disease. Eating disorders know no race, age, class or gender. They can happen to anyone. Eating disorders have been present in children as young as three years old and in adults as old as ninety. However, typical age of onset is anywhere from 12-18 years of age.
Civil disobedience originated from Henry David Thoreau in his essay in which he refused to pay the state poll tax that was embedded by the American government in order to raise money to start a war in Mexico and to enforce the Fugitive Slave Law (Furtak, 2005). In my understanding civil disobedience refers to the refusal to follow certain laws or to pay taxes and fines, in a non-violent form of political protest. Any individual out there will find a law in which they don’t wish to agree with, it could be for personal reasons, religious reasons, or it may just go against their beliefs. Thus it is unethical to stop someone from expressing his or her beliefs in a form, which does not cause any form of trouble. I will argue for the view that citizens do indeed have a moral right to engage in acts of civil disobedience in a mannerly form. There are three reasons to believe that citizens have a moral right to engage in acts of civil disobedience. Every individual is entitled to fundamental freedoms, which enforces their rights to be able to express themselves freely. Secondly, there are many unjust laws in place which anger citizens causing them to act in a civil disobedient way. Lastly, I will argue that citizens have good intentions at heart when they wish to protest against something, and that they usually don’t approach a law that will cause the society harm. Through the examination of fundamental freedoms, fighting for unjust laws, and moral persuasion it is evident that citizens have a moral right to engage in acts of civil disobedience.
The definition of procrastination is: the action of delaying or postponing something. Tim Urban, who conducts a speech called Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator for TED in 2016, explains that every human is a procrastinator- some more than others. I agree with everything he says in his speech because I can connect with every piece of evidence he claims, mostly including that there is a “Panic Monster” that pops up in your brain when you are close to a deadline and haven’t gotten anything done, especially when it comes from why I’m always so stressed out about school. There are two different kinds of procrastination: deadline and non-deadline. (Urban, 2016) Everyone that I have ever met is a procrastinator
China has redeveloped itself from past years to a point where they produce a large amount of goods needed by other countries. This new position is forcing other countries and the U.S. to adapt to China and tread carefully with China while China takes awkward stances on different areas affecting their own people and the world as a whole. China’s growth produces change and change allows for new learning. As long as China can follow the commitments it has set forth to the world and domestically, then the world can look at how China can help with world trade and economics and deal with the major responsibilities such commitments bring. Currently in the news was how China helped search for the missing Malaysia plane. Of great significance is how organizations the world over tried to help which was great timing for a horrific tragedy. As we accept China the people will too be witness to democracy. Without consent of their own people China’s government can’t prevail. If people see and feel the effects of democracy then there is a better chance for global peace. This, combined with a China that believes in multilateralism so that no one, including the U.S., is left in a vulnerable position seems to be our best hope. Looking back, China was going through a leadership change. To secure the vote of the people China had to make sure its people believed in its country and did not need any third party interests interfering and causing social unrest. There are many speculations as to why China has reacted to some incidences they way it did. While reactions are studied it is still important to understand if China is resolved to world peace and posterity as it as so often referred to.
