I think public officials should never lie and that they should always tell real facts. It is important to consider the context for sharing “truths”, there may be times when sharing the truth or withholding it, may be a matter of legal affairs. But that does not mean that they have a special place that allows to behave in a way that is unethical. Unfortunately, what is ethical or unethical seems to be have been forgotten by some people in government. The case of the Fort Lee bridge lane closure scandal comes to mind.

Honor can be defined by how one holds them in the public eye. Others may say that honor is how you live your life when none can see your actions. However defined honor can play major roles in how a person will act in a given situation. What is honor? Honor coins an individual’s nature. A principle that exists on the purpose of perception, a martyr willing to conform and accomplish. In the case of Shakespeare's play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Brutus was the most honorable of men. A brother to Caesar, but a father to Rome, he persist and perish for the future of his child. The idea of ignorance, and the belief of a false faith, turns this noble man toward a vulgar grave, with virtuous notions.
In public, integrity plays a very important role since people who have integrity hold firmly to their views, which support them to act properly in academic, personal and professional circumstances. In the academic community, students of integrity will notice academic standards severely, exchange ideas freely and improve the social acknowledgment of the value of their institutions. In personal conditions, integrity leads individuals to understand who they really are, thus they can be honest to their benefits and ideal life. In the workplace, truth enhances personal commitment to the code of ethics set forth by the profession. Additionally, integrity begins mutual beneficial personal relationships in a community, helps people develop a sense of reliability and responsibility, and fosters their professional competencies. In a word, the more people have integrity in a community, the more efficiency and efficiency we can have, and the more happiness and trust we can enjoy.
Integrity is an idea that has been discussed by individuals with a verbal acuity far beyond anything I could ever hope for. With that in mind, I will not delve deeply or poetically into what integrity is or should mean. However, I will simplify the meaning of integrity; at the core, integrity boils down to doing what is right even if nobody is watching. See a piece of trash on the ground and nobody is around...pick it up. Driving down the road with no cops in sight...drive the speed limit. I could write examples until infinity becomes paltry in comparison, yet I am sure I have made my point clearly; the greater good must be upheld regardless of who is there to ensure it is happening. It seems obvious that integrity should be a trait every individual is hardwired with from birth. However, integrity is a thankless trait; nobody is around after all. An individual cannot expect someone to clap, to smile, to thank them, to do anything actually. By definition, integrity should be something that is followed through with simply because an individual wishes to do what is correct, not because they expect accolades of any sort.

Well, I know that I don't want to be cut off in traffic, or yelled at, or bumped into rudely at the grocery store, or left picking up garbage all over my yard from the street. So I could try not to do those things to other people. I won't cut off others in traffic, or yell, or act rude at the grocery store, or throw garbage in the street. That's just a place to start. In conclusion, lying in politics is hard to define because it has to do with point of view and exposure to correct information. Politicians should try to be as truthful as possible to make our society run better and that will make people have more trust in our government. Subjects when it comes to polities should be researched and understood before a citizen votes for or against it. This will help dilute the false information if given by a politician or media.

Ethics are essential in the determination of what is right and wrong in a given situation (University of Phoenix, 2012). When we are born, we do not have any values, morals, or ethical systems in place, as these are learned and developed over time. Today, we are going to take a closer look at my personal ethics and the underlying ethical system that most closely applies to my life. We will also examine the effects that my ethics have on my performance within the organization. Finally, we will discuss why it is important to have ethics that are integrated within an organization.
