Fixed Mindset Carol Dweck

There are two different mindsets: fixed, and mindset. People with fixed mindsets don’t try hard and like Carol Dweck said “Now they have a choice: work hard and feel dumb or don’t work hard and act smart.” This has to do with fixed mind set and how they rather look smart than do the work to make them smart. She also said “Act as though you could do well if you wanted to you just don’t care to.” Another quote for a fixed mindset, that shows they rather appear lazy then do the work. A growth mind set is different they try to get better and they keep working on school. Carol Dweck said “The harder you work at something the better you will be at it.” This quote shows a growth mindset, and how they a willing to work at something to get better at it. They will keep working even if they fail as perfectly explained by Carol Dweck “They may be very disappointed by a poor performance but they deal with it directly.” Another way a growth mindset is different from a fixed mindset, when they do a bad job on something they will work on it to fix what they did wrong. I hate making mistakes, it makes me feel like I cannot get the essay right, and so I should just give up. I believe that if people knew I made a mistake, they would judge me, and that someone is always going to be better than me, so why try? If I do something to the best of what I can do, I will always be judged on what someone else did. No matter how hard I work at something it will never be perfect. People will always find something to fix. When I make a mistake and I am told to fix it, and I do it will still not be right. I don’t usually ask what I can do to fix something, and when I do ask what I did wrong, I will have no idea how to fix it. Even with this mind set I got through high school, but I did have friends that helped me when I was too lazy to do it
