Fisheries technicians work in a variety of fish habitats, such as ponds, lakes, and hatcheries. Their focus is to protect several fish species while also maintaining their lifestyle for recreational and environmental purposes. Many of their jobs are found in environmental agencies, which include the U.S Fish and Wildlife service, recreational centers, independent research centers, Universities and other fish conversation organizations.
As far as education goes, they must complete a minimum of 2 years in college. Which they are required to take 6 hours of English, 8 hours of Biology and/or Zoology, 6 hours of Mathematics, 4 hours of Ichthyology, Biology of fishes, Fisheries management, Limnology, and lastly Aquatic Ecology. But these requirements may be satisfied by 4 years of fisheries management or 5 years of experience in fish culture.

There are many opportunities for positions in this field, but major employers continue on striving to be in state, federal, city and county government agencies. The 1800’s the George’s Banks off the coast of New England was very generous to the fisherman who fished the sea for a living. There was a balance between what the fisherman took and what the sea could provide. By the mid-1900 that balances began greatly to shift. Technology developed during the 1950s allowed fishermen to take in much more fish than previous years. Through continued over fishing and lack of controls in place at the time, the fish stock depleted to the point the George’s Banks could no longer support the fisherman.
I was raised in Jacksonville, Florida; “the river city” as most natives call it. As stated by the St. Johns River Water Management Disctrict the city has this nickname because it is home to the largest river in Florida, the St. Johns. The St. Johns is also one of the two rivers in the United States that flows north (2013). Since I was surrounded by it my whole life, activities involving water were very common. One of my family’s favorite things to do is have a fishing tournament for Easter on my grandparents’ dock on the St. Johns River.

Blackfish came out in July of 2013 with shocking evidence of the mistreatment of Orcas, also known as killer whales, and the dangers imposed on the whale trainers. It mostly protects Americans in countless ways. State and local governments pass laws or ordinances and provide vital services to constituents.
In catching brook trout, there aren’t any big secrets. It is relatively simple to catch this marvelously colored trout. Trout fishing secrets basically consist of doing research and putting that information into action. It’s best if we put things into action; getting out on a stream and putting to use what we have learned in order to catch these colorful members of the char family.
Since the start of time, humans have been catching fish. The sport has, in many ways, evolved hugely, and yet in many aspects has stayed exactly the same. To me fishing is unique and I find it can be anything from relaxing to a very intense experience.
There are many challenges that our society faces today, and there are many STEM-based (Science Technology Engineering and Math) solutions that may provide the answers to those challenges for the future. Trawling is one of the most popular methods of fishing. It is extremely helpful in catching lots of fish, but it is also extremely helpful in causing lots of damage.
