The Medieval times was an age of ignorance, encompassing a long span of years in where people were placed in classes ranging from clergy being the highest to serfs being the lowest, education was only limited to noblemen and was strictly prohibited to women, and poverty was orderly. In the movie, First Knight, many of the problems in Medieval times are portrayed accurately. Empires immense hunger for land, inequitable enforcement of laws, and Religion are some of many issues during the time period represented in the First Knight. Continuing, the greed for expansion is represented in the First Knight with Malagant invading small villages and his desire to dethrone King Arthur. It is emently evident that Malagant’s main intention is to acquire land and conquer other kingdoms, such as, Camelot to amass his empire. This greed also resulted in poverty as many of the village’s residents had their homes destroyed. As stated by Malagant, “Last night, men from this village, killed three of my people. In reprisal, I have destroyed your village” (First Knight). What this quote indicates is that Malagant …show more content…

He completely disregards Malagant as a threat after the battle and focuses all his attention on to the trial with Sir Lancelot and Lady Guinevere. Asserted by king Arthur at the round table “Am I to hide in dark corners as if I'm ashamed? Open the gates. I want everyone there” (First Knight) What this quote means is that Arthur cares more for the trial and depends on god to protect Camelot, as he leaves Camelot open to invaders. This in turn leads to serious consequence as Malagant seizes Camelot and King Arthur dies shortly after. Identically, throughout the Medieval time period, many believed that there faith is predicted by god and would do little to solve there problems.
