In a world where speed, convenience, and technology govern our society, the fast food industry has become a prominent component in today’s culture. By adding worldwide initiatives and markets, the fast food industry as a whole has expanded its territory globally. Just as the demand has increased globally, it has also increased here in America. It seems that there is a fast food restaurant on every street corner flashing a new can’t-miss-deal. Though the fast food industry is popular, it may not be the best option for food. Some question whether certain fast food chains are even healthy enough to eat from altogether. There are many speculations on where the food comes from and the conditions in which they’re cooked and served. Fast food chains lure in customers by advertising low cost meals, convenience, and tasty foods. This makes fast food a very convincing option for people with busy lifestyles. These restaurants may claim to have healthy choices on their menus. However, most of our health issues in America are enabled by the fast food industry. Americans should consider reducing or eliminating fast food from their diet for good.

Fast food restaurants use many methods to draw customers in. Continuous commercials air with catchy songs, slogans, and fun characters in order to grab America’s attention. According to the book Food Politics, “The fast food and food service industry spend more than $11 billion annually on direct media advertising in magazines, newspapers, radio, television, and billboards” (Nestle 22). These restaurants don’t mind spending millions and billions of dollars just so they can get people to purchase their menu items. Everyone should think before buying or eating fast food. People should be more aware and not let commercials and ads fool them into making bad decisions. The health issues associated with fast food is not worth all the risk. The animals kept at the meat factories aren’t properly treated causing cross contamination and different food-borne illnesses. These restaurants claim to have healthy choices on their menus but the bad far more outweigh the good. Although people may find fast food to be cheap, convenient, and tasty it is very harmful to the body. Americans needs to stop being lazy. They need to stop buying fast food and choose healthier alternatives when it comes to eating.
