Although watching TV is a good past time, there are several TV shows that send a violent message. Many of the cartoons your kids watch have too much violence, explicate language, disrespect towards their parents and fighting. The TV show Family Guy always shows the next-door neighbor dating underage girls, this should not be on a cartoon, or a TV shows because it’s just wrong. The youngest son on the TV show named “Stewie” has always tried to kill his mother no matter what it took to do it. Stewie has not liked his mother since he was born; while still in the womb he tried to kill his mother from the inside that is how much hatred he had towards her. Meg and Chris are Stewie’s brother and sister all they do is fight like they have no common
sense. The show has too much excessive cursing for any child to watch it would be so easy for a child to pick up those words.
South Park is an animated TV series created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, which first aired on Comedy Central in 1997. The show features four boys Eric Cartman, Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Kenny McCormick. South Park has been seen as one of the most controversial shows due to its raunchy humor and obscene depiction of characters in the show. South Park deals with many current issues in the news surrounding anything from in politics to religion. In dealing with these issues South Park involves adult comedy that parodies current issues going on in the United States and around the world. South Park also uses many other rhetorical deceives, such as
Jersey Shore is American reality TV show that follow the lives of eight random roommates spending their summer at the Jersey Shore. All eight members of the cast consist of young Italian “Guido’s” who drink alcohol uncontrollably, party, have sex, and fight. The show began in 2009 and since its release it has become one of the most popular TV shows, viewed by a wide variety of people. Jersey Shore is essentially a psychological experiment with the hope that bringing eight strangers together would make for an entertainment. The reason Jersey Shore became such a hit is because it is infused with romance, drama and opportunity to live through a group of people we have nothing in common with.
In America, every individual has the right to a fair trial, but how fair is the trial? When an individual is on trial, his or her life is on the line, which is decided by twelve strangers. However, who is to say that these individuals take their role seriously and are going to think critically about the case? Unfortunately, there is no way to monitor the true intentions of these individuals and what they feel or believe. In the movie, Twelve Angry Men, out of the twelve jurors’ only one was willing to make a stance against the others, even though the evidence seemed plausible against the defendant. Nevertheless, the justice system is crucial; however, it is needs be reformed.
Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.
Holden tries to preserve his own innocence, and the innocence of others by not letting go of childhood memories and through his desire to suspend time. Holden views the adult world as corrupt and full of phonies. He admires childhood because of how it is free of corruption, and untouched by the adult world. IN order to preserve his own innocence Holden often attaches himself to childhood memories. The Museum of NAtural History is one of Holden’s favourite places . He mentions that his grade one teacher Miss. Aigletinger used to take his class there every saturday. While writing about the museum he says, “The best thing, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was” (121). This shows how Holden wants to preserve his innocence because he expresses how he likes how everything stayed the
In Lord of the Flies, William Golding suggests ideas about human nature such as the grasp for power, manipulation, barbarism, anarchy, and destruction which are prevalent in today’s society. As the article 2011 Libyan Civil War Fast Facts by CNN describes the event as a power struggle, mob mentality, international desire for new leadership, and displays the internal challenges of a population, traits of human nature such as these are present the struggle between Jack and Ralph which effectively made two groups and created violent divide. The Turn of the Screw by Henry James has been the cause of many debates about whether or not the ghosts are real, or if this is a case of a woman with psychological disturbances causing her to fabricate the ghosts. The story is told in the first person narrative by the governess and is told only through her thoughts and perceptions, which makes it difficult to be certain that anything she says or sees is reliable. It starts out to be a simple ghost story, but as the story unfolds it becomes obvious that the governess has jumps to conclusions and makes wild assumptions without proof and that the supposed ghosts are products of her mental instability which was brought on by her love of her employer
I grew up living on the coast of the Pacific Ocean between San Francisco and Half Moon Bay. I was walking distance to Lindamar Beach and a Bart train ride to Union Square in San Francisco. Every weekend, my extended family and I would go to Chinatown. This was one of my favorite activities growing up. Running down the street, looking for Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, then later getting a bunch of Fun Snaps, miniature novelty fireworks that make a loud noise when thrown on the pavement. A few years later, my family and I relocated to the East Bay, specifically Antioch. With my Grandma, Aunt, and cousins still close by, we would constantly plan family trips to explore. For example, my family would go hiking at Muir Beach or camping at Lake
Today the world is overflowing with technology that the population nearly completely depends on, from our cell phones, tablets, or computers, that are used to assist us with daily tasks. What if this technology begun to alter the way we live our lives? As a society, we are reshaping our lives by consistently attempting to appeal to our followers on social media. For instance, we constantly photograph daily events in our lives and then proceed to utilize filters so that they appear as photogenic as possible. It’s almost as if we are trying to create an entire new identity, one who’s life is more interesting than our own. What if, however, there was a place that you could travel to, for an outrageous expense, to be immersed into an alternate form of life. In the television series, Westworld, this place previously described can become a reality. Inside the mock society called Westworld as well, the individuals are known as guests, which as a guest you cannot be harmed. The robots posing as people are known as hosts, and to a guest they are known as your servants. Every other person is an automation, built to look and act exactly as
The Lord of the Flies is a story about a group of boys who were stranded on an island. Without any adults around to guide them, they have to overcome many trials in order to survive. It is a story about friendship, loyalty, leadership, diversity, and dominance. It depicts the struggles of young, adolescent boys having to go from being friends and enjoying the idea of not having any grownups around to enforce rules and make decisions, to the realization that in order for them to survive they must elect a leader and assign responsibilities . The question is posed that if girls were introduced into the story, how would it have been different, and would it have made things better or worse. I believe it would have been a bit of both.
One of the most famous and successful company in America is Walmart. Walmart is a retail corporation that sells almost all your everyday needs in life for a ridiculously cheap price with their mission stating “We save people money so they can live better”. As Walmart is such a huge franchise it is inevitable that there will be criticism towards it. Most people who are living near a Walmart are a stakeholder as they are probably shopping at Walmart such as my family and me. Also Walmart currently employees more than 2 million people worldwide who are all stakeholders.
Family Guy, an animated sitcom about a New England family and their everyday dilemmas, is a way for viewers to see the comedic side of a dysfunctional family. The Griffins consist of Peter and Lois, the patriarch and matriarch, and Meg, Chris, and Stewie are the children(Family Guy). Every character is different from the next character. They are also weird in their own way. The television show itself displays feminism, structuralism, and gay and lesbian criticism. Each character in the show also displays those criticisms in a certain fashion. Family Guy can be offensive to viewers with its satire, and the way the show delivers its message can make the family and the other characters in the show seem dysfunctional.
