Morality/ethics is the value and rules that we use to determine what is right and wrong. In this essay, I will show you how these concepts of moral ethics, followed by some factors (such as religion, family, education) can generally determine my own view of moral behavior in society and to learn the balance between doing the right things and/or bad things.
As all human beings, I am imperfect, which means like everybody I make mistakes. However, I as a conscientious moral agent, consider myself an honest, caring person, generally willing to do the right thing.
I am generally a good person; I morally try to do things for others, as long I can do it without affecting me or my family. For example I use to dedicate time to others needs. But I started thinking that I was pleasing everybody too much and I never had time for myself. As soon I changed my point of view, my moral now, is thinking first in my own necessity and later in others. After finding a balance in this matter, I feel more satisfied in life.
One of the qualities that I admired the most in a human being is honesty. I am generally honest with myself, my family, and others. I try to be honest because I want others to be frank with me too. For instance, throughout the time and experience that I have gained in life, I have learned a moral way in which I do not have to lie; it is simply to not release so many details about myself and my personal life. That way I close the door for people that ask me personal questions. Then I do not have to lie about details that I don’t want to share.
I am generally helpful to others. I think that is one of the main reasons why I chose my Major in Human Services. Ever since I was little, people always look to me to ...

The moral person that I am today has to do with the way I was raised. For example, I grew up in a religious family; my father is a very spiritual man, however, my mother did not follow the bible directives for a wife. For instance, she was very disrespectful to my father. I believe my father’s moral principles have influenced who I am today. I am the eldest child in my family; I have a brother that followed me and a younger sister. When I was a child I always felt that I had the responsibility to care for and protect my brother and sister; which is the reason why I believe that I am a very caring person today. I generally consider myself a rational and impartial human being willing to do the right things and stand up for my convictions.
still do great things even if you have been evil or immoral in your life.
one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: I am one of the few honest
I tend to be analytical, as previously mentioned, and supportive of others. Upholding high principles of morality and ethics have made me flourish as I have a lot of empathy towards the needy.
...ctive freedoms and choices (Young). We are fighting a fight that we are funding and, when we undress the luxury of all the good in our world, we are looking at the motive behind the goodness. There is a notion that morality requires a spiritual vision and the idea of purity is nothing more than an illusion, but without a spiritual vision we just care for our body before caring for the soul within our body. The insight of spirituality is more than likely deficient in those who have trouble recognizing the true black and white of morality (Young), but the ability to decipher and live by ethical principles is still very tangible. To an extent, it is in our nature to be good, but beyond that it is defined by our believer values. Ultimately, we have acknowledged, and over time developed, a standard of right and wrong that is self-governing and independent of God’s will.
Doing good deeds makes one a good person, right? One definition of a good person is someone who does good acts but doesn’t truly mean and feel it in their heart. Lane A. Dean Jr. is an example of
Our actions are based on our surroundings, we use what is around us to help us adapt and become better human beings. Another point of view on this issue might be that our choices can be influenced by people around us, although sometimes it may not best in our interest to become a follower. For example, we may go along with a decision of our follow classmates, helping us had guidance in our decision making process. Values and morals can not only guide but inspire and motivate us, giving us energy for doing something meaningful. Therefore I believe we must be honest with ourselves, recognizing the difference between right and wrong. Of course, there are some people who just cannot do the right thing, no one lives up to all their ideals, but I believe people are more honored to have some sense of morals and values that only make us look or feel good and just to things to make themselves look like they are a better person. In all honestly everyone is different and I would like to believe that kindness is passed down. Like the saying goes a smile is contiguous and sometimes that is all someone one needs to realize life is not all that bad. To leave off I would like to end this with Immanuel Kant, he
What is morality? What is being moral? Is it just being able to make the decision from right and wrong making the right decisions from good and bad? There are many great philopshers who had their own ideas on morality. Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill, Aristotle and Virginia Held all had different ideas and or approaches to resolving ethical problems. Though each of them differs from each other they each have their own positive and negative attributes.
When you 're being honest with people, generally they are trying to be honest with you, so it makes the communication process much easier. I abhor the idea of lying to people just for the purpose of reaching your own goals. Even when he or she succeeds I do not think there can be felt a whole lot of satisfaction from the accomplishment based on lies. Maybe I am sounding too idealistic but I strongly believe that our society would be much better if only people became more honest to each other. Primarily, the issue of honesty is concerned with politics and often we can see many crude and brutal crimes made against humanity, which could have been prevented if from the very start people were not deluded by the politicians '
What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.
The Earth is composed of billions of people. Billions of people that all have different genetic makeup, personal experiences, and cultural differences. The definition of what makes a good person is something that varies arbitrarily throughout the world. Nevertheless, no one can change the fact that all societies have followed some sort of similar moral ethics. Humans being innate value in morality is something that has stumped people throughout the ages. The innate value that humans have in the miracle of life, is ... To put it simply a good person is someone that innately respects morality and cares for the happiness and well being of others. a good person will feel feel empathy and guilt for the people that they have hurt physically or mentally, and forgive those who have hurt them.
Ethics is the study of values and how right and wrong action is defined (Cooper, 1998).
..., I try my very best to listen to my conscience. If I was living my life and had no choices open to myself, I would do so much without any regret. Most likely I wouldn't think twice between what is morally right and what is not. It may seem a little selfish but if I don’t have a reason not to, I don’t see why I can’t just live a little the way I want.
Psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg is widely known for his proposed stages of moral development; he argued that the development of moral reasoning “is a continual process that occurs throughout the lifespan.” (Cherry). Moreover, Kohlberg’s stages of moral development involve three levels, namely: the preconventional moral reasoning, conventional moral reasoning and postconventional moral reasoning. Each of these levels consists of two stages. Furthermore, we will examine Kohlberg’s stages of moral development by creating a character named Ciara. Ciara is a mischievous, temperamental and aggressive 11-year old who studies at a christian school. Throughout this essay we will see how Ciara’s moral reasoning will evolve.
Why be moral? This is a question that I’ve asked myself for many weeks since the beginning of this class. I wanted to know why is being moral so important to some people myself included. This also lead me to another question, which is why is it easier for some people and harder for others to be moral? First, let 's understand what it is to be moral. One definition of moral is concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character. Another definition is a person 's standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do. From both of these definitions, we get that being moral concerns right and wrong and being able to differentiation from both of those and having your actions reflect what you believe is right and wrong.
be moral? If I should be, then why? Why is morality important to society? An
