For a majority of high school students, life is like fresh snow covering the road, simple and a little daunting. My journey, however, has been paved with financial burden, family issues, insane opportunities, and overwhelming achievements thanks to the four National Honor Society pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I am no rookie when it comes to understanding the importance of scholarships. As a sophomore, I was fortunate enough to receive the FCCLA Japanese Exchange scholarship, which provided me with an all-expense paid trip to Japan for six weeks.
